We All Know The Tale Of 'The Tortoise & The Hare'
But What About 'The Rabbit & The Beast'?
Some Critters Have 'Ninja Powers'  =)

'Super-775' CPU 'Retro-Fast' Product Idea 4 U =)  Code Name: 'Clever Bunny' ~ Shaken, but not stirred  =D  If you combine 'The Strategy Of Necessity' with 'The Speed Of The Cutting Edge' you can win races faster than either alone.  The 'Socket LGA775' is Super-Common & it would be great if somebody did a run of fast ones to make old 'junk' PCs into 'The Latest Greatest' again =) Making CPUs is a 'Photographic' type process so costs them the same (pretty much) regardless of the complexity of the design as far as manufacturing.

In other words, why not simply stack a bunch of 'Mobile X86 Cores' into an LGA775 'Form Factor' (Socket type interface) so instead of getting a 'Passmark' around 2,000 can get one around 5X the speed for about $30 brand new? I'd certainly buy them, and think of all the BAZILLION$ of people world-wide (like Africa & Asia?) who would also LOVE something like this =D

An Intel 'Core i7-4790S 3.2Ghz' has a Passmark of 2,260 (single thread) & 9,626 (all cores driven). That is of course a different 'Pin Layout' & stuff, but what about simply DUPLICATING (with smaller 'process' so traces fit & same 'TDP' as the i7) the same 'guts layout' (but more cores) as the 'Core2 Duo E8500 3.16Ghz' which has a 'Passmark' of 1,322 (single thread) & 2,313 (all cores driven). In other words, stack 4 of those in the same 'Casing' as the 'E8500', but smaller traces inside (so same low 65 watt max 'TDP' power consumption/heat =) I suggest the 'E8500' because they are the best 'speed to heat ratio' of the 'Socket LGA775' line.

More details:

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core2+Duo+E8500+%40+3.16GHz

Maybe even employ some 'Crazy Idea' like stacking 'Low TDP' cores to get a WILDLY MASSIVE performance increase within a 65 watt 'threshhold'?

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/power_performance.html

These burn only 7 watts...

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-8200Y+%40+1.30GHz

& have a 'Passmark' speed of 4,339. How about stacking NINE of those into an LGA775 cocket chip? =) That would give people a 'Passmark Speed' of 39,051 IN UNDER 65 TOTAL WATTS! = WoW! =:-o It's more than 'Possible'. It will ABSOLUTELY work, and THEN SOME because the 'i5' is a much more complex design than the 'Core 2 Duo'. I wager you could actually reach a much HIGHER Passmark than even that due to the 'Reduced Instruction Set' of the 'Old' socket layout. That's faster than a Xeon W-3175X @ 3.10GHz with 28 cores, & instead of WA$TING 255 watt$, it would only use 65!  That's about 75% lower power bill, & saving the planet & all that jazz right?  =)

Since even an 'Old Useless Garbage' PC like a Dell OptiPlex 755 MT can run a 105 watt CPU like a Core2 Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz, how about even taking it a step further into SURPASSING the 'latest greatest' CPUs, & stack 15 X 7 watt 'mobile' variant E8500 cores into it?  It's not a space issue.  The actual chips in these things are really small.  It's mostly 'pin out' traces & space for the 'plug' interface.  You would still be within the machine's 105 watt 'TDP' spec, and get a 'Passmark' speed of 34,695!  That's faster than the $2,000+ Intel Xeon W-3175X @ 3.10GHz running at 3.8Ghz burning 255 watts with a Passmark speed of 33,538! To put this into perspective, the fastest CPU available right now (as of October 2019) is the AMD EPYC 7742 with 128 cores fueling a Passmark score of 47,365 while burning 225 watts at a price around $6,000, & that thing is less than 30% faster!

For a different example, compared to something like a top-of-the-line 'i9' (so wonderful because there is an 'i' in front of it =)) like an Intel Core i9-9980XE @ 3.00GHz, with Passmark of 29,598 at 165 watts, the 'Super 775' 105 watt 30 core version achieves (again) 34,695, which is 15% faster all while burning about HALF the watts!  So in short, if you are following this so far, even the best modern $2,000 i9 can't beat a bunch of stacked 'Core 2 Duo' in an 'Old Junk' PC!  WE DID THE MATH!  =D  They can do ALL of this, RIGHT NOW, very EASILY!  It's just a matter of convincing & paying the right people or finding others to produce them ~;^D  AMD & others make mobile CPUs too!  And they don't have to worry = most people are so '$hallow' they will happily pay 'through the nose' for something more 'recent' because they can not 'comprehend' that cheap & old PCs can be so BLAZING FAST!  U know how their 'friend$' will disown them if their gear is so 'last year'? LOL  So there is room for both 'old and new' markets.  It won't really harm the 'mainstream' sales.  The CPU is the 'bottleneck' in old PCs & it is easily fixable this way.  The 'Trendies' can get their i7s & whatever while the 'Thrifty' can UPgrade the old 'Worthless Trash' to AMAZING BLAZING Modern-Style $UPER-$PEED!  =8^D

You may now be thinking 'What About Fancy 3D Gaming Graphics'?  Sure maybe not as amazing a gain, but that's not the whole world.  There are so many advantages to having a faster machine even if there is not crazy blazing 'Bus $peed' & whatnot.  For instance, it's fun to get DVDs from the library and 'upsample' & tweak them to look about the same as HD Blu Ray stuff in real time (if they don't already have it there in Blu Ray ~;o)  This can be done even on VERY 'slow' old CPUs = even stuff around the 1,000 Passmark range, but the more speed the better.  This is an example what you can do with an E8500 'Absolutely Worthless Junk' CPU with a Passmark speed around 2,281.  & that's not an exaggeration. They're like $1 (one dollar) each on Fleabay ...

Back 2 CPUz ~> Could also do more modest versions, like stacking 4 E8500 'Brain Layout' but with tiny 'Modern Low TDP' circuit traces & the same LGA775 'Pin Format' to get even faster performance than a relatively speedy old 6 core Xeon X5675 like people put in noisy Dell Precision T3500 workstations & similar, but instead of burning 150 watts, it would use less than 32 ~ running cooler, quieter, etc =)  Maybe do 2 versions then?  For example, maybe a 16 core & an 8 core?  Could sell one for $20 & the other for $40?  & the $40 one would outperform the Intel Xeon W-3175X @ 3.10GHz which sell for over $2,000 each on Ebay.

I suspect the reason Intel doesn't already do something like this is to both milk more profit off their old manufacturing machines still running 'dated' and 'inefficient' trace processes (for 'Non-Mobile' chips) & also to keep things 'In The Can' to 'UP-Grade' people later (stacking lower power traces onto the same layouts).  + Of course it pleases the many 'Vendor$' when consumers are tricked into buying the same stuff over & over again never really gaining features or speed.  I mean why give people speed AND low power RIGHT NOW with EXISTING Mobile CPU tech that can EASILY elevate old 'junk' PCs when you can make loads frustrating them with stuff that never moves them forward instead?  Can You Say 'Windows HATE'?  (8 LOL = like an inside joke!)  Naughty naughty  =P

The Intel E8500 CPU was released in 2008 so probably got another 10 years before the patent runs out, but maybe AMD would like to do something in it's place?  If there is an issue with the socket connector format rights they could point people to an 'adapter', like back in the old 'Retro PC' days when people sold various crazy pin rearranger thingies 2 use different CPUs on old stuff = problem solved!  =D  Oh, & all those 'Internet Forums' even today where people talk about how to 'hack' CPUs to 'Create' various models from something else ~ because there are really far fewer models than are marketed, and the makers simply cripple the 'In Betweeners' to 'round out the line', like locking down gears in a car LOL

And yes, bazillion-core CPUs will even run 'Regular Garden Variety' XP just fine, because the XP OS doesn't care how many cores there are in the machine (just gets faster & faster with multi-threaded apps, etc.) & only limits it (artificially 'of course', for 'marketing') to 2 physical CPUs sockets.  Reminds me how they limit ram to less than 4GB = another $ham.  Patches for XP let U raise it like crazy, but that's another story.  Back to CPUs...

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Xeon+W-3175X+%40+3.10GHz

So as you can clearly see, the industry PURPOSELY CRIPPLES the potential performance of machines, like the glorious efficiency of mobile stuff not being carried over into the 'Desktop' market, same way the $oftware vendors purposely trash their own performance, often going in REVERSE (slower & buggier) performance as things get 'newer'. It's a $CAM 2 keep the 'Money Flow' forever 'Circulating' into their pockets, avoiding actually solving the problems & $elling 'Treatment$' for '$ymptom$'.  Reminds one of 'Medicine'  =))  More on that here...

On & on... just yesterday I was looking into why Chrome web browser has a CPU-hogging issue burning 'lsass.exe' process when launching. Turns out it is an 'Error/Bug' in the Micro$oft 'WebKit' API or whateverthehell ~ 2 cripple non Microsoft browsers???... like what?  How they purposely crippled the shell back in Windows '98 days via IE6 'Up'-Grades??? In fact, each so-called 'up'-grade actually made things slower & less reliable by adding ever more bugs to the OS shell. It was a TRICK to try & FORCE people to switch to 'Windows 2000' & other things (& generate 'Cu$tomer $upport Call$' LOL =))

It's also like how recently Apple goes & DOWNgrades performance on 'Their' Cu$tomer$ iPhones (without permission of course) when a newer model iPhone model comes out... then 'The Corporation' says 'We R doing them a favor by conserving battery power' LOL!!  THEY DID NOT ASK FOR IT!  So many similar $cam$ happen 'behind the scenes' people don't even realize ~ like with CPU SPEED, SOCKET TYPE, & TDP!  Do we really 'Need' to 'RE-Buy' everything 2 fit some 'Latest Greatest USELESS' slot on a crazy motherboard that can't make up it's mind what cards to use?  OMG ~ most motherboards are a random vomit of dissimiar interfaces.  GIVE ME A BREAK!  32 Bit PCI is fine for most things, & lets us 'Recycle' old gear like modems & controlers & whatever.  So basically, in a lot of ways 'The Vendor$' are at WAR with 'The User$'.  It's unfortunate.  I really miss the days of 8 slot boards with 7 of them (the non-video 1's) actually being flexible & USEFUL because they were all THE SAME! =D  The same kind of 'Needless Interface Changes' $CAM happens with CPU sockets ALL THE TIME!!!

So yeah long story short, it would be VERY EASY to make 'Socket LGA775' CPUs that actually FAR EXCEED the performance of even the very 'High End Latest Greatest' CPUs, & the stats I just listed (combining 'mobile' tiny trace process for low power & old relatively 'RISC' core duo layout for even more speed when stacked) prove all of it. Reminds me how I was selling multi-terabyte servers 'Back In The Day' running on Windows '95 & '98 shells (because '95 shell is even more stable if the user doesn't need softwares with specific '98 'Function Calls' or whatever) & I contacted Micro$oft about this offering to send them proof with a pre-configured server & show them how to do it (because it's about the bit depth of the DRIVER & 'Overlay Software', not the OS), and they just ignored me. Why? because their goal is to PRETEND that you 'Need' some 'Latest Greatest' (Translation: overpriced & even MORE buggy) thing =))

Same thing goes on in so many 'Issues' = people don't realize what is possible because of all the false marketing 'Propaganda'. SOMEBODY (or group) could really make a FORTUNE by simply stacking 'Old CPU Layouts' into 'More Cores On Old Sockets' so people can really DRASTICALLY enhance & UP-Cycle 'Old Garbage' computers.  It ALSO helps 'Save Them From The Landfill' & all that other 'Politically Expedient Green Jazz'  =D  What a 'WIN-WIN!' yes?  There's no 'Inneficient Design Issue' when the CPU is so efficient. Those old 'Inneficient' machines become 'Power SAVING Machines' because their speed vs. TDP has been truly UPgraded =D

I don't know if you are interested in these sorts of things yourself, but either way please send this 'Concept / Proposal' around. I'll be posting this online I guess to help with that. May as well 'DO IT NOW!!!'  =8^D   HERE U GO!  ~>  https://justpaste.it/57zqz
