It Doesn't Hurt 2 A$K!  =:-D

Is a gal better depending on the amount of $$$ $he $pends?  How 'bout a poor choreographer hoo just likes 2 'hang out', with a bod like liquid stone ~ athletic & horny hours on end bendy like a rubber band?  So obviously like chix & 'bangableness' the 'price' often has NOTHING 2 do with QUALITY =)  Use this obvious verifiable fact 4 maximum performance, & don't let rock-bottom price$ keep U from asking 4 even BETTER deal$.  It's all how U approach it, like saying 2 some gal "I'd like 2 take U out" is almost a$king 2 get robbed, but "Our kids would be SOOOO Good Lookin' =)  could get U all U want 4 FREE! =D  ~ or even with 'trade' like awesome genes & lots of orgasms = practically paying YOU for the FUN!

With a 'product' $hopping example here's a GR8 sounding 'Aardvark' sound recording device that originally sold 4 around $700, but since the brand has changed to 'Antelope Audio' & they no longer '$upport' these with newer drivers 2 run past XP demand is low & price$ krazee good ~ same way a perky black azz is the highest form of perfection in nature ~;D  Don't let the 'confused' opinions of others trick U!  The strange toy-like 'Prince-Esque' purple/pink design doesn't harm the Sonic PERFORMANCE.  What's INSIDE?  What AMAZING $tuff can it DO?  +XP is a way better OS N E waze so 'It's All Gravy'...

The Legend Continue$...

2 $eller (Mar-13-19):
My offer is $35 grand total for this item, shipped to California zip 93433 (no extra shipping charge). These are considered 'obsolete' and not valuable to others because won't run past XP. The high price ads for Aardvark stuff never sell, & many of them up for years on end. If you check past sold items (not just 'ended') will notice what people actually R willing 2 pay, like $25 for LX6 system I bought here recently. My systems all run XP so they're fine with those =) Nobody is going to bid on your item because around $70 with the shipping is way 2 high. If you don't want to do this now can ask in a few weeks after no bites I guess. The LX6 was sitting there at $25 grand total for 2 weeks (left it there not bidding 2 prove what I'm saying). L8R ~

From $eller (Mar-13-19):
I'm guessing there's something odd with the eBay shipping calculator as they say USPS for the Q10 to that zip code would cost almost $50. Although it is somewhat heavy. I'll see what I can figure out. I mainly wanted to keep it from getting thrown out or recycled if someone still had a use for it. I'll get back in touch after re-weighing and measuring it.

2 $eller (Mar-14-19):
I don't care about shipping speed in terms of the method used, but please send it in a 'timely' way =) By that I mean please physically send it within a weak from your destination, but I don't care how long it takes after that to get here. Some people just sit on things for weeks or even more than a month B 4 sending out, which is not what I mean LOL

I've bought the same complete Q10 system just like yours with card, cable, rack box & 'display packaging' shipped from the East coast to California & is only around $30, so surely it's cheaper from Arizona somehow =D I personally find 'USPS Ground' cheapest, & they have multiple 'durations' available ~ whatever floats your boat. Here is my address information:
(me me me bladee bla)
L8R ~ (end of E-Mail message)

Note: I was familiar with Aardvark's odd '$pam me @ the top of the li$tings' name from way back & knew about 'The Glories Of Digital Audio Clocking' people would talk about & how Aardvark was regarded as a high standard for it, but since I hadn't compared it myself it seemed like a silly 'marketing' gimmick.  Noticing how cheap they were getting after the closing of the company & many consumers moving away from the XP operating they are 'limited' to, I took the plunge & got a 'Direct Pro 24/96' off Fleabay 2 compare 2 my fave recorder @ the time: the Alesis ADAT XT, which is a 'pro' model that's been used on loads of big albums from rock 2 whatever.

Though they both use AKM brand Jap converters 4 similar overall 'balance & slam' in a 'boom sizzle' sort of way, direct scientific A/B comparison revealed shockingly obvious differences immediately.  The Aardvark had much clearer, more detailed highs ~ rather than the XT which by comparison had some 'air hose noise' & unwanted 'hash' mixed in there.  The overall improvement in clarity gave the Aardvark's sound a GR8 '3D / Holographic' vibe  =)

d644a7a7b28e18b81bab8d805ff12e86.jpg

Some 'reviews' say the converters are in the 'breakout box' to avoid noise, which is false ~ they're on the card.  The 'breakout box' is just mic preamps & I/O jacks. Others say the little box attached 2 the card itself is for shielding, which is also false ~ it's really just a plastic 'advertising decoration' & even when they sometimes fall off the system stays noise-free! =D

So Long XT! ...

0951a375252a1b77cb5e2c82bce1323c.jpg

& 2 think I paid $3,000 each (which was a '$500 off bargain' @ the time =)) for these things many years ago & now I can get stuff that sounds BETTER for like 1/10 the price, with even MORE functionality (mic preamps, etc.) = such a BARGAIN!  WoW! =:-o  Thanks so much Micro$oft 4 the 'planned obsolescence' HAHA  Within some $cam$ against the user there can B '$ilver Lining$' yay?  Without the FALSE PERCEPTION that 'XP Is Junk' so many 'trendies' have, this 'Bargain Badassness' would not B possible!  =))

It's also funny how people often claim larger bit depth means more accurate sound, but even though technically 20 bit 'should' sound 16X more detailed because it can handle so many more number values or 'steps' in the wave sequence, it actually sounds more harsh & fake, like the 'LX-20' version of the ADATs sound terrible compared 2 the 'inferior bitted' XT, which also sound WAAAY more smooth than the early 'blackface' ones (4 other reasons) which 1'st came out around 1992.  If U R curious about 'bit depth' stuff maybe also check out the WIkipedia page about it here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_bit_depth

More 'XT' info...

https://www.sweetwater.com/publications/sweetnotes/sn-holiday95/HolidaySN_02.html

The guy (((Igor Levin))) who created the Aardvark & Antelope Audio brands notes in viddages on U-Boob that part of the problem with higher bit depths is the 'mathematics' of it amplify 'clock jitter' problems.  I used 2 think 'clocking' was a 'corksniffery connoisseur' joke in audio realms but when I hooked the digital out of the Aardvark card to an already smooth & GR8 sounding Sony TAE2000ESD 1 bit receiver 2 C Wat the EffeKt shOOd B (which most 'uninitiated' will claim should B nothing @ all) the Sony was elevated 2 A Significantly More Open & Realistic $ound! =D  I was Re-Li$tening 2 my 'old favorite' trax from Turkish 2 Metal & whatever else all jaw-droppingly OMG HOLY WTF! =:-o

So yeah given the sound of the 'higher-bitted' more 'jittery' Alesis LX-20(bit) 'goldface' is actually WORSE than the XT model 'below' it, & the 'fancypants' Alesis M20 type with the 'shuttle knob' (pictured below) has Apogee brand converters, I doubt those sound better than the Aardvark either since having worked in 'high end audio' & heard ton$ of expen$ive Apogee stuff they all sounded like harsh krap 2 me = similar 2 'Denon' =))  Pointless!  Or more 2 the point = like a sharp point poking @ U LOL ~> https://apogeedigital.com/

e9622791ed055fe1a98d2d0025df251d.jpg

Aardvark stuff is bright but more in an 'airy' & 'vertical' way rather than an 'annoying' way.  Also notice the crazy gray box 'Elco' connector on the bak U need 2 get 'alternate' outputs =P  WTF do U need 'balanced' connectors 4?  If U R using N E decent (shielded) cable there's no noise N E waze unless U R doing a big long run with low level stuff like microphones really.  Even a 'junk' cable can B OK over dozens of feet in a 'super-noisy' environment if U put a resistor in series with it (= just 'turn it up' @ the other end!  =)  Sending more signal over the cable makes the noise portion relatively lower in PROportion.  Check out Tha Kray-Z Konnekter choice$...

40d27cd2b72eb45be789b41ab223e2b2.jpg

Problem with 'balanced' stuff iz U R running through an extra transistor 2 'balance' it (subtracts the 'opposite' 2 reject 'noses').  It's the old adage: "Don't Fix What Ain't Broke".  If U don't have a particular noise PROBLEM, then balanced only HARMS what U R doing! =P  Balanced is important for MICROPHONES, not really 'line level' stuff.  These ADAT variants don't have mic preamps so they really shouldn't have balanced inputs as 'default'.  The 'adapters' alone (2 get 1/4" pluggage) R expensive =(  By contrast, the Aardvarks got 'The Rite Sokets 4 Yer Plugz' = El Neat-O 'combo' jax so kan stik 'em W/XLR OR 1/4" goodies!  Wat A Win-Win! =D  It's even better than the SANE I/O on the XT...

Speaking of '$nakes', notice the dual-male (unbalanced = good) 'Repurposed DB25 SCSI Cable' used 2 send the ANALOG signal 2 the card from the 'Breakout Box'.  The shorter & fancier, the clearer the sound = The Law Of Cableness.  My personal fave $o far is the "COPARTNER E119932 AWM 2464 DB25M 25 Pin Serial Cable, 3FT, AWM 2464, 80°C, VW-1" = Oh Baby!  =)  They're marketed mostly 4 '$canner$' = yea' I'm tweaky like that.  I'd post a photo, but it's so lovely... you'll weep = "Oh there's ANOTHER beauty hard 2 find" ~;-(  'Tiz "An En$emble Ov Awe$um!"  R U Feeling 'The Purpleness'?  I Guess The Designer's A Prince Fan HAHA

Those were 'bout $7,000 'round 1998, which is like $11,000 2day (2019)  =:-o  There's also a 'Studer' variant called the 'V-Eight' that sold around $8,500 each in 1999 which = about $13,000 each in 2019 $$$!  A studio guy reviewing sez 'bout a 3 piece $ystem 4 $31,000+ (= $47,000+ 2day): "finest sounding digital multitrack tape recorder ever" & "One sure reason to buy the V-Eight  is for Studer’s (Apogee?) digital converters, which are the cleanest I’ve tested. I've heard many a DAC & noticed some patterns, so shall (parenthesize) 2 B wi$e on ye Prizumz = Cirrus Logic (harsher), Philiips (blurrier), & AKM ('boom/sizzle') = LOL!!  They say the $tuder use 'Apogee' designed DACs?  Substitute 'Analog Devices' brand 4 Phillips & it's about the same guts as Prism?  In other words, besides the differences in 'layout' & 'clocking' math (for 'digital synthesis') the gut$ in these boxes R not super-different between brands regardless of price.  The '$ound' of things really seems a lot more 2 do with the 'De$ign Choice$' than price, & when U bundle GR8 'technique' with a 'fancy box' people will pay top dollar.  By the same luck U can also scare up some GR8 bargain$ with awe$um $ound 4 chump change =D

Tha 'Recorder' brands, B Thay LowLee Or Famed, R not really making things 'from scratch' but 'assembling parts' from basically the $AME people.  It's like with CPUs or batteries, or even computers = I hear there R just a few actual 'OEM' (base parts) builders, but loads of 'brand (assembler) names', & I find most 'name brand' computers have the same mobos in them, like Asus (HP), Tyan (Dell), Foxconn (Apple) & the rest, & LLord help us the horror show of 'forced odd resampling' to 48Khz of everything via the plagues known as 'Realtek' & 'Creative' slather all your 'CD' style content with 'aliasing' distortion = REPENT!

Glory B 2 our $avior $aint AD1984, Amen =)  Thru many years on 'Gear $afari' I've found some of the 'fancier' DAC chips actually sound WORSE (harsher & watnot) than some 'old junky' ones from 'AD' (my current favorite 'happy accident' gold  =)  More on that here:  https://justpaste.it/4enwk  Really nobody listening gives a frak if U used $30 worth of gear or $30,000.  They just want it 2 $OUND kool.  No doubt tho' gotta dig tha' glowy butt tonz = 2 Kool 4 Skool!  I want 1 just 2 B 'Po$h' ~> stik it in my rak 4 'Bling'  =B^)

$tuder $tuff ~> https://www.historyofrecording.com/studera800.html

I've noticed most electronic stuff has basically 3 parts to it: Cards, Enclosures, & User Interface ~ & sometimes a 'mechanical' (often most expensive & least reliable) dimension.  The 'ADAT' line is basically some cards in a (big) box with a 'transport mechanism' & some fancy buttons & lights (the 'U.I. / User Interface).  By throwing the 'U.I.' into the computer via software, Aardvark is a more 'financially efficient' design to begin with, & the lack of moving parts vastly increases reliability, etc. = both cheaper AND better in many ways.  The DISadvantage of doing that is somehow by (Marketing =)) 'Magik', many in the 'Con$umer Zombie Horde' will PRETEND that once the 'Vendor' of a particular OS has ($upposedly) dumped it, the thing becomes 'Useless', but that is clearly not the case.  XP doesn't stop working because of 'words'.  In fact, most of the ATM machines on Earth R still running it, & about 30% of Bu$ine$$e$, 'kuz they need something stable & flexible 2 do actual work, not just dik around =))

Getting even more 'retro' is the old analog 'Reel-2-Reel' stuff from countless $tudios, & I gander that'z wat the Purple boxes R about = warmer vibe.  Sometimes 'Old & Obsolete' stuff can sound really GR8!  & Aardvark stuff is an example, + it's 'modular' = can run up to 4 in 1 PC (if U have that many slots) so max 16 channels on each 2XPCI Dell below.  There's also an 8 channel 'line inputs' version that uses the same card as the Q10, called the 'Aark 24'.  Or if U don-need mike preez & 4 chanz is fyne, the same card from the 'Direct Pro 24/96' will run The Mighty Mighty $25 LX-6! ~> https://justpaste.it/6ld7b
