Permaculture & Palestine
As some of you may recall, during the Zoom call on 31 July 2025, the question was raised:
“Can a collective statement from the permaculture movement be made?”
Between 10:30–10:32 in the transcript, a clear sense of agreement emerged:
yes, it could—and should—be drafted. What followed was the intention to continue this effort through the mailing list and post-meeting coordination.
In the spirit of that commitment, a draft working document was created that seeks to embody:
-
-
our shared ethical grounding in permaculture principles,
-
a clear and courageous position on what’s unfolding in Palestine,
-
and a call to reflection and action that permaculturists around the world might connect with.

This is not a final statement. It is an invitation—to co-shape a voice that feels coherent, responsible, and regenerative in this historical moment. You might resonate with some parts and feel unsure about others. That’s welcomed. This process is open to dialogue, refinement, and collaboration.
If you don’t have time to edit directly but have feedback, you can post
on the Permaculture & Palestine channels.
A statement titled “Defending Life Against Genocide, Ethnic Cleansing, and Aggression” has emerged, linked to the IPCC 2024 and circulating as a petition. It shares strong values with the Statement PePa is shaping.
