Did you know that Bookworm Central started in a basement? In 1993, our owner Radhika Bajaj founded Bookworm with the wish to impact children's lives through literacy. She was soon joined by our company Vice President, Laurie Rothenberg, and together they began curating customized book fairs for schools. In 1998, we began operating from a warehouse in Fairfax, VA. At this time, we also launched our first of many online book fairs. In 2002, Bookworm moved into a larger warehouse in Manassas, VA. Our work scope expanded as we began operating as a bulk-order fulfillment facility, as well as curating customized literacy programs and providing literacy workshops. Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, in 2021 we launched online bookstores for schools. As of now, Bookworm Central has grown in stature and offerings while our committed team remains dedicated to providing personal, prompt, and caring service. We devote ourselves to nurturing community connections and collaborations so our services are accessible to all those passionate about literacy. Bookworm Central may be a small business, but we have a large impact. Happy National Small Business Week! We appreciate everyone’s continued support.
