Downtown Indianapolis street to get new look
INDIANAPOLIS — Market Street between the City-County building and the City Market will be closed for a $7.4 million renovation. Crews will create a pedestrian promenade and veranda, build a raised pedestrian crossing on the street, construct curb bump outs to condense driving lanes and provide for parking, drop off spaces and bicycle parking. I’m so excited about what Indianapolis will become after reading that the downtown Indianapolis street will get a new look. This is the news I read from Fox 59 that beginning Tuesday, the downtown Indianapolis street market from the City-County Building to the City Market will be temporarily closed due to the $7.4 million worth renovation. Meanwhile, the crews will make a pedestrian promenade veranda and build a pedestrian crossing on the street and construct curb bump-outs to condense the driving lanes and give a bicycle parking and drop off spaces. The project will take quite a long time as it will end in 2021, but I’m so excited about this change. The plan provides a great and progressive look at the city.
