⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Armanen Runes atau Armanen Futhark memiliki hubungan erat dengan sejarah Younger Futhark. Terdiri atas 18 jenis huruf, nama dari Armanen ini mengasosiasikan antara rune dengan dalil Armanen, yang dilihat oleh von List sebagai raja-pendeta Arya kuno.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Kemunculan Armanen Runes pertama kali dikenalkan oleh seorang mistikus Austria dan revivalis Jerman bernama Guido von List pada karyanya berjudul 'Das Geheimnis der Runen' atau dalam bahasa Inggris berjudul The Secret of the Runes. Karya von List dipublikasi sebagai artikel berkala pada tahun 1906, sebelum akhirnya dipublikasi secara mandiri pada tahun 1908. Guido von List menyatakan huruf Armanen Rune terungkap padanya ketika mengalami kebutaan permanen setelah operasi katarak selama 11 bulan pada tahun 1902. Armanen Futhark yang terukang kepada von List lalu dienkripsi dalam Rúnatal of the Poetic Edda (pada Hávamál dari bait 138 hingga 168). Pada bait ke 147 hingga 165 tertulis bahwa, Odin menyebutkan 18 kebijaksanaan yang ditafsirkan sebagai 'Song of the 18 Runes'. Daftar inilah yang kemudian dipercaya oleh banyak pengikutnya bahwa Armanen Rune merupakan perwakilan 'rune utama' yang menjadi dasar semua barisan rune historis.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Guido von List membuat baris untuk huruf Armanen berdasarkan Younger Futhark dengan nama dan pelafalan yang hampir sebagian besar berkaitan dengan Anglo-Saxon Futhark. Sebanyak 16 huruf Armanen pertama sesuai dengan huruf pada Younger Futhark yang mengalami sedikit modifikasi pada nama. Kemudian, terdapat tambahan 2 huruf yang diadaptasi dari Anglo-Saxon Futhark. Kedua huruf rune terakhir yang dimaksud adalah Eh dan Gibor yang merupakan hasil adopsi dari Anglo-Saxon Futhark, Eoh dan Gyfu.

- Casting meaning: due to its shape, Hagal is sometimes called the Mother rune and is said that all other runes derive from its shape. It is a rune of enclosure but contains a potential for growth.

- Casting meaning: can be taken as the same idea as the Hindu concept of karma. What is done in this lifetime will determine our future existence.

- Casting meaning: just like our ego, this rune is one that is used to control ourselves. It represents the personal power of control, obedience and our compelling will.

- Casting meaning: modern meanings of this rune are of beauty, fame, intelligence and virtue. List’s version of this rune has it representing sunlight that washes away darkness as well as having it denote nobility and leadership.

- Casting meaning: like Ar, this rune represents the power of the sun. The difference is that Sig is the power of the sun whereas Ar is the power that the light of the sun contains. It is also a rune of success and victory.

- Casting meaning: The second mother rune of this set, Man was used in Armanen tradition to represent birth. Modern versions say it stands for health, increase, maleness and man (gender this time).

- Casting meaning: modern interpreters see this as a female rune, the night, death and instinct. List said it denoted anger, falsehood, error and the oppositions found in man (as in human not gender).
