  1. Thoros is a badger (Arya’s clue). Badger is the animal for Hufflepuff. So Thoros becomes a Hufflepuff.
  2. The remaining 4 spots in Column 1 are 2 Hufflepuffs and 2 Ravenclaws (Thoros’ clue), but Varys can’t be Hufflepuff as Thoros is the only Hufflepuff in his row (Thoros’ clue). So Varys must be a Ravenclaw.
  3. There are 3 spots left in Column 1 that belong to 2 Hufflepuffs and 1 Ravenclaw (Thoros’ clue). Corners can’t be adjacent to their own house (Arya’s clue), so Gendry can’t be Ravenclaw because he would be adjacent to a Ravenclaw. So Gendry must a Hufflepuff.
  4. Margaery is in a corner. She can’t be Hufflepuff, as she is adjacent to the Hufflepuff Thoros. She is not a Gryffindor, as there are no Gryffindors in row 5 (Varys’ clue). She’s also not a Slytherin, as there aren’t any Slytherins in corner boxes (Gendry’s clue). So Margaery is a Ravenclaw.
  5. There’s a spot for one Ravenclaw and one Hufflepuff left in Column A (Thoros’ clue). Lyanna can’t be a Hufflepuff as she is female (Margaery’s clue). So Lyanna is Ravenclaw and Podrick is Hufflepuff.
  6. There are 2 Hufflepuffs in Row 5 (Podrick’s clue). We have 1 Hufflepuff already with Gendry. The 2nd Hufflepuff must be male (Margaery’s clue). Roose is the only other male character in Row 5, so Roose is a Hufflepuff.
  7. There are 2 female Slytherins in Column 2. They can’t be Ygritte and Sansa, because Varys needs to be adjacent to all 4 houses (Varys’ clue). If they both became Slytherin, he would be short either a Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. For there to be 2 female Slytherins, Brienne must be one of them as she’s the only other female in Column 2. So Brienne is a Slytherin.
  8. Daenerys can’t be Ravenclaw (Roose’s clue), Hufflepuff (Margaery’s clue), or Slytherin (Brienne’s clue), so Daenerys must be Gryffindor.
  9. As Daenerys is a Gryffindor, Drogo is a Gryffindor (Brienne’s clue).
  10. Sansa, Jaime, and Ygritte must be some combination of Gryffindor, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw (Varys’ clue). As Column 2 has all 4 houses, it needs a Hufflepuff. Therefore, Ramsay becomes Hufflepuff.
  11. Sansa and Ygritte can’t be in Gryffindor as there’s only 2 females in Gryffindor, which are Arya and Daenerys (Ramsay’s clue). Out of Sansa, Ygritte, and Jaime, one of them needs to be Gryffindor (Varys’ clue). So Jaime must be Gryffindor.
  12. There are 4 women in Slytherin (Jaime’s clue). So far we know Brienne and either Ygritte or Sansa (but not both). There are only 2 other women on the board who haven’t been sorted yet, so Cersei and Melisandre are both Slytherin.
  13. Melisandre’s clue refers to the shadow baby/demon she conceived with Stannis in Season 2 of the show. Serpent is the animal for Slytherin, badger is the animal for Hufflepuff. Melisandre is Slytherin, therefore the serpent. Stannis is the badger, thus making Stannis a Hufflepuff.
  14. Column 5 needs all 4 houses and is currently missing a Slytherin. It’s not Drogo or Margaery, who we’ve already figured out. It’s not Bran, as Slytherins aren’t in the corner spots (Gendry’s clue). It’s not Tywin, as Cersei is in Slytherin and she tells us her father is not in her house. So Jorah must be Slytherin.
  15. Jorah can see 3 Ravenclaws, but not on his diagonal. If he can’t see a Ravenclaw on his diagonals, this means that Yrgitte is not a Ravenclaw and therefore Ygritte is a Slytherin (Varys’ clue).
  16. If Ygritte is a Slytherin, then Sansa must be Ravenclaw (Varys’ clue).
  17. There are 3 Stark children on the board – Arya, Sansa, and Bran. They all need to be in different houses (Stannis’ clue). Arya is Gryffindor. Sansa is Ravenclaw. Bran can’t be Slytherin as he is a corner square (Gendry’s clue). So Bran is a Hufflepuff.
  18. Row 1 needs to have all 4 houses (Gendry’s clue). There isn’t a Ravenclaw there yet, and Petyr is the final square in Row 1. Petyr must be Ravenclaw.
  19. Davos is not a Slytherin, otherwise his row would have all 4 houses and we know only Row 1 has all 4 houses (Gendry’s clue). He’s not a Ravenclaw either (Jorah’s clue). All the Hufflepuff spots have been uncovered (Bran’s clue). So Davos must be in Gryffindor.
  20. Jorah can see 3 Ravenclaws, not including his diagonals. At the moment he can see Lyanna and Margaery, so he needs to be able to see one more. There’s only one spot left – Tywin. So Tywin is a Ravenclaw.
  21. There are 7 Ravenclaws in total (Tywin’s clue). We have six on the board so far, so the final must be Tyrion or Oberyn. It’s not Oberyn (Roose’s clue), so Tyrion is a Ravenclaw.
  22. There are 6 Slytherins in total, but we’ve only got 5 on the board so far. So the final Slytherin is the final square. Oberyn is in Slytherin.
