Safaris in Uganda and Kenya 2024
Safaris in Uganda and Kenya 2024. In 2024 you can go on safaris in both Uganda and Kenya for at least 13 days and see some of the best wildlife in East Africa. East Africa has some great parks with grasslands and apes that you should check out. The gorilla trekking safari in Bwindi is one of the best safaris in Uganda. In Kibale National Park, you can look for chimpanzees. In the popular Maasai Mara, you can go on beautiful game drives.
Day 1: Arrive in Uganda
A driver guide from Dav Safaris will pick you up at Entebbe International Airport. Greet each other before the guide briefs you about the entire safaris in Uganda and Kenya, before they drive you to your hotel to settle in and clean up.
If you have time, you can walk around town that day. At the front desk of your hotel, it's easy to make plans to see the Botanical Gardens, the Ugandan Wildlife Education Center (UWEC), or do something else in Entebbe. Don't forget that the whole day's costs are on you. You'll have dinner and sleep at your hotel.
Day 2: Go to Kibale Forest National Park
It's a beautiful drive to Kibale Forest because it goes through tea fields, busy village markets, and the familiar rolling hills of western Uganda that are covered in lush green plants.
The huge Kibale Forest National Park is right next to Fort Portal and is made up of beautiful tropical jungle. People say that this area has more monkeys than any other in Africa. When you walk through this forest, you might see the rare red colobus monkey or the black-and-white colobus monkey. On a clear day you can see all the way to the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary
Go to the Kibale bush in the morning to look for groups of monkeys. An exciting thing to do is to follow chimps in the wild, swinging from trees high above the forest floor. Their loud cries will let you know where they are, even if they're hard to see.
Return to your lodge for lunch before you begin a Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary wildlife walk with a guide. You will see a lot of animals on the walk, including the Shoebill Stork. You will return to your lodge for stay and eat dinner.
Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Before 6 am wake up. Talk to your driver guide again after breakfast at your lodge. After that, the drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park will take 2-3 hours. Lands, lakes, streams, and forests are spread out in the national park at the base of the Rwenzori mountain range. It goes through the park and connects Lake George to Lake Edward. A lot of birds and animals live there, like the famous Nile crocodile and one of the world's biggest groups of hippos. There are 200 kilometers of well-kept roads in the park that you can use for your first game drive. Along these roads, you can see animals. You can spend the night at your booked accommodation.
Day 5: Boat tour and a game drive safaris
You can start your morning game drive as the sun comes up in Uganda because most of the time, your meals will be served before dawn. A lot of animals are out and about during the "golden hours," or when the first rays of sunlight hit the field. This means that the best time to go on wildlife safaris in Uganda is at sunrise. If you're lucky, you might see a lion or leopard.
Then you will go on an exciting boat tour in Kazinga Channel later in the day, when the sun is high and animals are coming to the river to drink. There are too many hippos for you to count. Buffalo and elephant herds will also go to the coast to cool off in the water. There are lots of good things about Queen Elizabeth National Park safaris in Uganda.
Day 6: Gorilla trekking safari in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You can see the rare and unique mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park on a gorilla trekking safari. The misty canopy of Uganda's oldest and most biologically diverse jungle is home to half of the world's gorillas. For each of the 9 family groups that live here, there is a park guide who can help you find them.
Before you get to where the mountain gorillas live, your hike will take you through bamboo woods, thick vegetation, and steep, sometimes muddy and slippery hills. Your guide will point out nests, gorilla poop, and bamboo shoots that have been chewed as clear signs that gorillas have been there recently.
The gorilla trekking safari could last anywhere from 2-7 hours, depending on where the mountain gorillas are that day. Once you encounter them, you have to look at these amazing animals in peace for up to an hour.
Day 7: Trip to Kigali and then fly to Nairobi for a Kenya safari
You will be driven across the border into Rwanda by your driver guide after breakfast. They will then drop you off at Kigali International Airport three hours before your trip to Nairobi. You will be met at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by another car guide from Dav Safaris. They will then take you to your overnight stay.
Day 8: Game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park
Get some breakfast at your lodge, and then get ready for your first Kenya safari tour. Meet your guide at 8 am. You can go on a planned game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. This park, Lake Nakuru, is at the very bottom of the Great Rift Valley. It has grasslands and woodlands all around it. In the area around Lake Nakuru, there are rocks and beautiful peaks, as well as a lot of different types of nature to enjoy.
Afternoon safaris are better because it's cooler and clear enough to observe things. You can eat lunch and take a break at the camp. Wildlife like lions, leopards, buffalo, antelopes, warthogs, and more should be watched out for. After dinner, stay the night at your booked lodge.
Day 9: Transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve
The breakfast will start early, and then you will go to the well-known Maasai Mara National Reserve. The Maasai Mara is in the southern part of Kenya, close to the border with Tanzania. It has beautiful views, huge fields, and many wild animals all year long. They also stay there every year from July to October as they make their way north from Tanzania's Serengeti. There are also zebras, lions, and the beautiful cheetahs in the wild.
You will spend the night at your booked lodge at Maasai Mara. This is where you will have your dinner.
Days 10 and 11: Maasai Mara wildlife safaris
The "golden hours," which begin when the first rays of sunlight hit the grassland, are the busiest in the animal world. So, the best time to see wildlife is in the morning. Because few predators hunt during the day, early morning is the best time to see the thrill of the chase, or at least the wake of a game.
If you want to go on a full-day game drive, make sure you bring a packed lunch. You can also go back to camp for a hot lunch and then go back to the bush in the afternoon. Stay at you lodge all night after eating your dinner outside under the stars.
Day 12: Lake Naivasha Kenya safari
Go east toward Lake Naivasha after breakfast. A lot of different kinds of wild animals live in the lake, such as hippos. Since it's a freshwater lake, there are lots of fish in it. Long-tailed and great cormorants, fish eagles, pelicans, and different kinds of kingfishers are some of the birds that come to eat fish. You will see the lake and the animals that live in it from a boat. You will spend the night there.
Day 13: Return to Nairobi for departure
Have a great time on the last day of your Kenya safari. Depending on what time your flight leaves, you may be able to take an extra trip near Lake Naivasha or in downtown Nairobi. Your driver guide will take you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to conclude your safaris in Uganda and Kenya are over.
