At WildMoss, we believe that your clothes not only speak your mood but introduces you in a new way. So, what better than conversational prints. We feel that prints talk for you! In this conversation of comfort and style, we have explored the traditional Sanganeri technique of Rajasthan.
What is Sanganeri Technique of Rajasthan?
This meticulous technique involves the print repeat being mirrored, traced on Sheesham wood pieces and carved. The biggest repeat can be achieved is 6” x 6” unlike mill printing. So, if a particular print has four colours, then it needs to be imprinted four times – imagine the time and precision it takes! To make sure that every print wows you like the other, all the printing is done by thumb and fingers as scale, a lot of manual skill and love goes into creating each and every print. As we always say – love is sweeter with all the imperfections, the most endearing aspects of hand-block printing are the unevenness with each stamping being unique and unmatched in its variations, just like us! Every print is a bouquet of skill, hard work and precision of our artisans who hail from Sanganer in Jaipur, for whom this wood carving is a family profession and they have been preserving and perfecting this technique for generations. A completely different skillset is required to make textile blocks, compared to other carpentry. The process demands intense focus because once the design is hammered on wood, there is no going back.
