One of my therapists once said to me, "You can feel like shit and still get things done." In other words, I don't have to stop doing things because I'm depressed.
I once thought that my entire day would be destroyed if I woke up depressed. As a rule, I tended to get what I had anticipated. I would quit before the day had even begun.
But it turns out that when depression threatens to take over our brains, we don't have to lie down and accept it. I promise you will feel better as long as you take action. We deserve to celebrate even the tiniest victories since we are Warriors fighting one of the cruelest diseases there is.
The fundamental list I refer to when I feel helpless and depressed is the one below. And trust me, I am well aware of how difficult it is to even breathe when you are experiencing a depressive episode. It's oppressive.
On your worst days, implementing simple self-care tips can make a significant difference in managing your well-being, especially when dealing with depression. While Spravato treatment and spravato esketamine centers provide professional assistance, there are additional self-care practices to complement your journey.
Here is the List:
Leave your bed. If all you did all day was lie in bed, it's very easy to criticize yourself. Give your sadness no more justification to tell you that you are a failure. You don't have to get out of bed in the morning; you may do it at any time of the day. Just rise up, place one foot in front of the other, and place your feet on the ground.
At the very least, pull the covers up off your bed. I once heard this from a close friend, and I've found it to be beneficial. Even if all I accomplished today is making the bed, at least I did it.
Make a change to your hair. Put on a baseball cap, brush or comb your hair, or simply run your fingers through it. You won't put much effort into it, but you'll feel and look a little better about yourself.
If you have any plants, give them water. Not doing this is the surest way to kill them (and, if you're like me, to feel pretty incompetent). You're not even required to make a schedule. Just give them a little drink when you remember to, before you forget or convince yourself otherwise. You'll feel better if you keep anything alive during a period of covid.
Take good care of your pets. If you're fortunate enough to have a pet, it can be really gratifying to pay it attention, play with it, or simply spend time with it while cuddling. Don't forget to feed them as well! Being needed is pleasant.
Send a brief text to someone. This one requires some work. You might even need to mentally prepare yourself for it. But don't worry! They don't require a book from you. Simply introduce yourself to someone you adore or haven't seen in a while. Say something along the lines of: Hello if you don't feel like having a whole chat. I don't feel like chatting right now, but I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking about you. They'll likely appreciate you for it.
There you have it, then! There are six easy things you may do at any time to lift your gloomy mood. For nine days, complete them all or one at a time. If necessary, perform the same task every day for a month, six months, or a year. Whatever functions.
In addition, for individuals dealing with depression, Spravato treatment, which includes esketamine therapy, can be a valuable tool in their mental health journey. Just keep trying. You are valuable, and your efforts ARE worthwhile. If you can simply keep going, I'm here to tell you that things will get better.
I'm grateful that you read as usual. Look for yourself today.
