Pride and Joy

 

(A) In your bedroom at night when you’re  (E) sleeping tight

and your mommy peeks in at (A) you

Could you see in your sleep a tear (E) on her cheek,

then you’d know what you’re putting her (A) through

 

Oh no it’s not tears of sadness her (E) heart is glad

as she looks at ther little (A) boy

Her emotions don’t hide what she (E) feels inside

as she tucks in her pride and (A) joy.

 

Pride and (E) joy, pride and (A) joy, you’re (E)  my, pride and (A) joy,

You’re (D) mommy’s and you’re (G) daddy’s pride and (D) joy, pride and (A) joy.

 

How your daddy would cheer but you (E) couldn’t heer 

as you played in the baseball (A) game

How he tried no the show but his (E) pride would glow

as they called out your number and (A) name.

 

And you made him so sad when you  (E) acted bad,

and he had to discipline his (A) boy.

How he wept by the stairs as you (E) said your prayer,

cuz you’re still daddy’s pride and (A) joy.

  

Pride and (E) joy, pride and (A) joy, you’re (E)  my, pride and (A) joy,

You’re (D) mommy’s and you’re (G) daddy’s pride and (D) joy, pride and (A) joy.
