What is Premature Ejaculation?
While performing sexual intercourse when a man orgasms during the intercourse more promptly than he or his partner would like it. It is a common issue among men. About 30% to 40% of the man suffer from this at some point in their life.

Causes of Premature Ejaculation

Psychological causes of having Premature Ejaculation are:
- Anxiety
- Stress
- Depression
- Guilt
- Problems in Relationship
- When one has a lack of confidence in himself or having a poor body image of themselves.
- When one is having concern over their sexual performance.
- Having negative feelings about sexual intercourse.
There might also be some physical causes of Premature Ejaculation:
- Having irregular levels of neurotransmitters (it is the imbalance of the chemicals in one’s brain that pass messages or impulses to the rest of the body).
- Any kind of infection or inflammation in your prostate or urethra.
- Deviant hormonal levels.
- One can even have it by heredity (genetic traits) from their parents.
Treating Premature Ejaculation
One can treat it in the following ways:
- Behavioral techniques: It includes ejaculating/ masturbating one or two times before having sexual intercourse so that one can delay ejaculation when having intercourse.
- Pelvic floor exercise: Pelvic floor muscles play a major role in one’s ejaculation. Weak pelvic floor muscles impair the ability to delay ejaculation. Pelvic floor exercises also known as Kegel exercise can strengthen these muscles.
- Medications: Medication can be of two types that is an oral medication and medication in the form of cream and sprays. Many oral medications ensure to delay Premature Ejaculation like Dapoxetine. But none of the oral medications are approved by FDA (Food and Drug Administration).
- By Counseling: Counseling can be of great help as it will approach your mental health about your experiences and relationship with your partner. This counseling session might help one out to reduce anxiety and find better ways to cope up with stress.
- Condoms: Wearing a condom might decrease the sensitivity you feel in the penis while having sexual intercourse, which can help out to delay ejaculation. Condoms which control the climax (Climax Control Condoms) are also available over the counter.
Preventing Premature Ejaculation
One can prevent Premature Ejaculation by:
- Self-Distraction: When you are aroused completely and climax is beginning just take a deep breath and try to think about something else which is boring or distracting like- “baseball”.
- Stop and Start: In Stop and Start method once you find yourself near the climax withdraw your penis from your partner and relax.
- Squeeze Method: In this method, either your partner or your partner have to squeeze the tip or end of the penis for between 10 to 20 seconds when you are about to ejaculate.
- More Foreplay: Try to stimulate your partner with high arousal and not touching your genitals. In this way, their orgasm and ejaculation can be achieved at the same time.
