What is an express entry system for Canada?
Express entry is an online system that assesses an individual’s ability to immigrate to Canada. The system comprises a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) tool that grants points to applicant’s profiles based on their age, education, work experience, language skills, and other adaptability factors.
The express entry invites foreign nationals using three economic migration pathways:
- Federal Skilled Worker
- Federal Skilled Trades
- Canadian Experience Class
To lodge an express entry profile, a candidate must prove their eligibility in one of the three pathways mentioned above. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada then issues invitations to the highest-ranking candidates in the Canada express entry pool.
What are the eligibility requirements for Express Entry?
Below are the general requirements to immigrate to Canada through express entry:
- The applicant must have at least one year of full-time work experience in the last ten years.
- Be able to demonstrate proficient English or French language skills through a designated language test.
- Must have completed post-secondary education that is assessed against Canadian standards by a relevant body.
The total cost of Canada immigration through express entry is typically about $2300 CAD for a single applicant, and $4,500 CAD for a couple. This fee does not include settlement funds that all candidates must demonstrate as part of the eligibility requirements depending on the size of your family.
