third millennium. Golden Star is the biggest private yacht ever built

moorage in commercial port in Dubai presently. Lurssen and Blohm &
Voss shipyards built Platinum yacht for Brunei Jeffry prince, who
sold it to an emir of Dubai after the bankruptcy. The new owner put a
ship in a floating dock in the district of the Persian bay. The
yacht, renamed in Golden Star, was taken under intense guard. The
work is underway on replanning of its interior after that, which are
in progress till now. That's why it's possible to see the model only
1:100 meanwhile.

Abdul Aziz yacht, which belongs Saudi royal family, was considered

This giant yacht was built at the German shipyard
called Kiel HDW jointly with Lurssen. Al Salamah was launched in 1999
under the name Mipos. It is equipped with a powerful propulsion
system, consisting of two 20-cylinder Mtu engines, 8046 HP each. It
allows a ship to speed up to 21 knot. Overhead part of its six decks
superstructures reminds an apartment by the form, where champignons
are cultivated, however Terence Disdale designer succeeded to obtain
elegant classic lines at the same time.

Horriya (former Mahroussa),

This yacht
is the oldest one out of others, sailing in nowadays. It found the
place on moorage, located not far away from Cairo. El Horriya was
built in 1865 in London at the Samuda Bros shipyard and is intended
for the king of Egypt. It is equipped with two steam turbines. The
yacht was extended in 1872 and blade screws were set on it in 1905.
The last works on El Horriya were conducted in 1950. The latest
information about the state of president of Egypt yacht compels to
suppose that it is unsuitable for exploitation.

Octopus yacht was the second in the list of the
greatest modern private yachts in the world before Golden Star
appearance. A rivalry between the Microsoft and Oracle companies

obtained draw in this competition by building the Octopus for the
Microsoft. The ship has a steel hull, it is able to resist ices and

Voss shipyard in 1931 for a lady called Emily Roebling Cadwalader.
Its length is unusual for that time. In few years the owner sold the
Savarona yacht to the president of Turkey Kemal Ataturk. Turkish
government owned the yacht until 1980, whereupon the ship in bad
state was passed to Kharaman Sadikoglufor for 49-year lease. The
yacht was fully recovered in Istambul in 1992. It furrows spaces of
Mediterranean Sea with celebrities on board during few years already.
Its crew consists of 55 persons. 34 passengers can simultaneously
accommodate on the yacht with a luxurious d?cor. There are 17
chambers, enormous Turkish bath-house, theater and several bars. It
is a steel ship, equipped with two 8-cylinder Caterpillar engines of
3600 HP each, which surely is the most representative and prestige
motor yacht built in a period between two world wars.
