Privacy Policy — PDF Scanner

1. Introduction & Agreement

By installing or using PDF Scanner (“the App”), you acknowledge and accept the data handling practices outlined in this Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any part of the policy, please discontinue use of the App.

2. Information You Provide

2.1 Support & Communication

When you contact us through in-App forms (e.g., for help, bugs, or suggestions), we receive the text you submit and any optional diagnostic details you choose to attach.

2.2 Local Preferences Stored on Device

Your personal configuration inside the App—such as theme selection, measurement settings, or notification choices—is kept exclusively on your device and never transmitted elsewhere.

3. Automatically Collected Data

The App uses third-party analytics and crash-reporting tools (such as Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics) that may collect:

  • Device information (model, OS version)

  • App version and installation timestamps

  • Anonymous identifiers (e.g., Advertising ID)

  • Crash reports, performance data, and error events

This data is used to maintain stability, understand feature usage, and improve overall performance.

4. App Permissions

4.1 Photos & Media Access

The App may request permission to access your photo or video library to allow importing content for scanning or streaming. Your media files are never uploaded or shared by us unless explicitly initiated by you.

4.2 Local Network Access

Required to locate compatible devices (such as smart TVs) on your Wi-Fi network. Without this, casting and remote display functions cannot operate.

5. Use of Third-Party Services

  • Crash Reporting: Firebase Crashlytics provides aggregated failure reports used for diagnostic purposes.

  • Analytics: Firebase Analytics helps us understand user flows and engagement patterns.

Each service maintains its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review.

6. Data Retention & Removal

  • Analytics and technical logs are retained only for as long as needed for diagnostics and then deleted or fully anonymized.

  • Feedback messages remain stored until you request deletion.

You may contact us at any time to have stored support messages removed.

7. International Transfers

Analytic and crash-reporting data may be processed on servers located outside your residence country. These transfers rely on the safeguards and security measures of the respective service providers.

8. Children’s Data

PDF Scanner is not designed for children under four (4) years old. We do not knowingly gather data from such users. If an underage data submission is discovered, we will promptly delete it upon notification.

9. Your Legal Rights

Depending on your region (including GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws), you may have the ability to:

  • Request access to collected data

  • Rectify inaccuracies

  • Ask for deletion

  • Limit or object to processing

  • Obtain your data in a portable format

Since personal identifiers are not collected by default, these requests rarely apply but will be honored when possible.

10. CCPA Notices

For California residents, the following rights apply:

  • Request disclosure of categories of data collected or shared

  • Request deletion of personal information

  • Opt out of data selling (note: we do not sell personal data)

All requests will be processed without discrimination.

11. Cookies & Similar Tracking

PDF Scanner does not use cookies internally. However, third-party SDKs may rely on device identifiers or similar mechanisms. These can be adjusted through your system privacy settings.

12. Purchases & Subscription Handling

All payments are securely processed by the App Store. We do not store credit card details. We may receive anonymized purchase information (e.g., subscription status, region) so that premium features can be unlocked and maintained.

13. Security Measures

We implement industry-standard protection practices: encrypted data transmission, secure development processes, and routine internal checks. Still, no digital system can guarantee absolute security.

14. Refund-Related Metrics

When users request an App Store refund, anonymized usage metrics (such as feature usage or total time in the App) may be shared with Apple solely for refund validation.

15. External Services & Links

The App may present links or functionality that relies on external services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Please review their policies separately.

16. Biometric Information

PDF Scanner does not capture or analyze biometric identifiers (such as facial templates or fingerprints). If such functionality is introduced later, we will notify users and request explicit permission.

17. Policy Revisions

This Privacy Policy may be updated occasionally. If a major change occurs, an in-App notice will be shown. Continued use of the App after an update indicates your acceptance of the revised terms.
