What Is Happening


LinkedIn, a social media network for business professionals, has announced that it will be cutting 716 jobs out of its 20,000 workforce. The company will also be phasing out its local jobs app in China, called InCareers.


Streamlining Operations


The decision to cut jobs and close the China app was made to streamline the company's operations, according to a letter from LinkedIn's CEO, Ryan Roslansky. He explained that the market and customer demand are constantly changing, and the company needs to adapt to serve emerging and growth markets more effectively.


New Job Opportunities


Although 716 jobs will be cut, LinkedIn will be creating 250 new jobs. Employees affected by the cuts in its sales, operations, and support teams will be eligible to apply for these new positions.


Phasing Out InCareers
