Live Trees Please
From: Chuck Darling

My Dad used to bring home
Live Trees, but after he went
to his reward, my Mom
couldn't be bothered with one,
((She had allergies, and we lived upstairs...))
and so we relied on
Artificial Trees.
The second year of our
Marriage, we waited a bit
too long to find a tree.
We finally found a
"Charlie Brown" tree,
that was rather small
and sparce, but shaped well.
As you know, you must
cut off the end of the tree,
to expose live vascular tissue,
or else it won't last.
I cut the trunk twice,
and saved a disk,
which I lettered with
India Ink, varnished,
and drilled a hole
for hanging it as an
Ornament on future Trees.
Hint.
On Christmas morning,
before anyone gets up,
Boil some small sprigs
of spruce needles, along
with cinnamon and ginger.
Carry the pot around the house
to spread the fragrance, make a
pot of coffee, and hot water for
Tea and hot Chocolate.
Use real sweeteners, NOT
Nutrasweet. It has bad metabolic
effects in hot Chocolate.
Put some good Christmas Music
on softly, make sure the stockings
are filled...
Spend 20 minutes with the kids
removing one item from the
named stockings at a time.
Sometimes the stocking gifts
make a bigger impression than
the wrapped presents...
