This Privacy Policy explains how TV Remote Control (the “App”) handles information when you use it.

1) Summary

  • The App is designed to work primarily within your local network to discover and control TVs/set-top boxes.

  • The App may process local-network device information (like device name and IP address) to connect and send remote commands.

  • We aim to keep data on your device and do not sell personal data.

2) Information the App processes

A) Local network & device discovery data (on your LAN)

When you open the device pairing/selection screen or trigger a scan, the App may discover compatible devices using local-network discovery protocols (e.g., mDNS/Bonjour, SSDP/UPnP, or vendor discovery). During this process, the App may read and use:

  • Device name/model (as advertised on the LAN)

  • Device IP address and port

  • Service identifiers/endpoints needed to connect (e.g., service type, URL, or token provided by the device)

  • Basic capability info (e.g., supported commands)

Purpose: to show available devices and let you connect and control them.

B) Remote control interaction data

After you select a device, the App sends commands over your local network (e.g., navigation, play/pause, volume). The App may store locally:

  • The last connected device

  • Your preferences (e.g., favorite device, UI settings)

Purpose: to provide the remote-control features and improve usability.

C) Diagnostics (optional / minimal)

If the App includes crash logs or diagnostic reporting, it may collect technical information such as:

  • App version, device model, iOS version

  • Crash traces or error logs

Purpose: to fix bugs and improve stability.
If you do not use any analytics/crash reporting services, remove this section.

3) What we do NOT collect (typical setup)

We do not intentionally collect:

  • Your contacts, photos, microphone recordings, or precise location

  • Browsing history

  • Sensitive personal data (as defined by applicable law)

4) How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • Discover compatible devices on your local network

  • Connect to and control selected devices

  • Remember your preferences (on-device)

  • Troubleshoot and improve app reliability (if diagnostics are enabled)

By default, we do not share your personal data with third parties.

B) With device manufacturers / devices on your network

The App communicates directly with the TV/set-top box you choose. Those devices and their manufacturers may have their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for how third-party devices handle data.

7) Data retention

  • Local network discovery results and preferences are typically stored on your device and retained until you clear the App data or uninstall the App.

  • Diagnostic data (if collected) is retained only as long as needed to address issues or as required by law.

8) Your choices and controls

  • You can stop discovery by leaving the pairing/device selection screen.

  • You can revoke Local Network access in iOS settings (which may prevent device discovery/control).

  • You can uninstall the App to remove locally stored preferences.

9) Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10) Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information stored within the App. However, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and home network security depends on your router and device setup.

11) International transfers

If we do not send your data to servers, international transfers typically do not apply.
If you use third-party analytics/crash services, update this section to reflect potential transfers.

12) Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will reflect changes. Continued use means you accept the updated policy where permitted by law.
