Telxon PTC-701ES

When I first worked at Osmose,
I repaired and QC'd Shigometers,
which were digital wood decay meters.
After a couple weeks, I had everything repaired, and so I was put to use
decolating six-part pole reports, and mailing
them to our Utility Customers,
and our field management.
Then I began handling Trouble Calls,
regarding crashed computers in the field.
Then one day, my supervisor asked me
if I could locate missing computer units
in the field...
I built a programmable database with Dbase3+, and Turbo Pascal.
I updated the unit status of each computer
weekly, based on processed work.
I found 79 of the 80 missing units, got them
back to the office, and serviced them through Telxon.
After a few years of service history,
Lockheed sent me a dozen units to
test and QC.
Listen to the AudioED on this image,
and consider the number of connectors
on a commercial widebody Airframe,
and the difficulties of maintaining quality,
when your parts suppliers are low-cost
