What are the 'Democrats' afraid of...?
Why are the 'democrats' so panicky

6 Waterloo
Hung thunderclouds over the mantel
of our summer cottage by the owners,
Miss Barnard or Mrs. Curtis:
a sad engraving, half life-scale,
removed now, and no doubt
wrecked as too imperial and raw
for our stomachs:
Waterloo, Waterloo!
You could choose sides then:
the French uniforms, a blue-black,
came out black,
the British Redcoats gray;
those running were French--
one, an aide-de-camp,
Napoleon's clearly, wore a
waterfall of overstated braid,
there sabered, dying, his standard
wrenched from weak hands
by his killer, a helmeted, fog-gray
dragoon, the true Britannia,
the rib of oak--
six centuries, this field of their
encounter,
La Glorie changing to
sauve qui peut and merde.
Glory changing to
save whoever can and
Huh.
