Week of the Tariffs

Recorded 6am March 6th, 2025

over the banjo chords of The Stampeders,

Who made music before Digital.

Digital is that old word that meant

Computer Controlled, like Prince's

Purple Rain, the first Direct-to-Digital

recording.

I sold a lot of Kenwood Rack Systems

with a Purple Rain Memorex CX90 Tape...

Know what a Rack System is, Gen Z ?

Know what a DDD CD is ?

Know what a Tape is ?

You don't know what this sounds like, until

you play the CD through a 300 watt Pioneer

Receiver into a pair of 15" Cerwin-Vega

Speakers.

As for Week of the Tariffs...

I sat down on a sidewalk Metro Vent, to warm up, and thought of writing a song.

(About 30 seconds)

I decided to use the opening chords of

Sweet City Woman, by the Stampeders,

and I patched it together several times

to make the background chords.

As I built this (about 5 minutes) I thought

about what the song should be about.

Well, now.

5:54 AM, listening to Amy King on KFI am,

Bill Handel coming on at 6.

Daylight Savings time is coming up this

Sunday at 2am, there's a European war

going on, and we're getting tired of paying

the bills, when it's really Europe's problem.

(Would we expect the EU to meet and decide how many Billions each EU country

should send to California, due to last year's

wildfires ?)

Oh, and the radio Democrats are freaking

over the Tariffs, due to begin soon.

I wrote the lyrics in order,

about 5 minutes,

then sang them

over the chords, while sitting on the rushing

sidewalk vent, 4 feet from the roaring

cars on 6th Street.

After recording, I had to edit and patch the song, compose a cover, do an MP3 conversion, re-tag the MP3 with the cover,

and post it to the cloud.

Then I built a page for it, linked it to the song, and some additional cultural examples. It's now 9:31 AM.

About 3-1/2 hours to pull it together.

PS.

Something to remember T-47's first Quarter.
