Abridged translation of the 3rd meeting with Shaykh Nars Al-Ansi, leader withing AQAP.

Part 1

 

Attacking the Houthies:

We do not attack the Hoothie laymen, we attack the armed Hoothies & we advise the Mujahideen to focus on armed Hoothies. Bombing a region just because it is know as a Hoothie region is not right, we have to focus on their power bases.. The Hoothies & the US now stand in the same trench against Mujahideen, killing this one is like killing the other one.

 

Harshness versus softness:

The west & their puppets in the Arab world can not fight us without each other, our war against them is one & the same. Using softness or harshness depends on the situation, it should be considered with wisdom. But softness is preferable. Before an operation we must ask 3 question: 1) Is it permissible? 2) Do we have the Qudra (power)? 3) What are its benefits? The benefits of an operation could be either popular or just tactical, the best is if they are both popular and tactical.

 

Implementing Sharia:

If it's possible to implement (parts of) Sharia (in times of war) than this can be done without declaring an Emirate. Sharia in times of war can be impl. or delayed, it depends on power & pro's vs con's. This is up to the Mujahid leader. The shollars said that implementing Sharia Hudood could be delayed in times of war until the Muslims achieve their stability. Consider we are in a defensive war. But we will not say Sharia should or shouldn't be implementing completely. It depends.

 

Awareness & Knowledge:

Like Sh. Azzam said: the Mujahid without Islamic Sharia knowledge is an outlaw. So we do our best to educate Mujahideen. We advice the Mujahideen to read the important war advices of Dr. Ayman, they're mindful advices of experience and love. The Ummah has woken up, many people armed themselves with awareness & understanding: this is the strongest of weapons. Allah says the plots of Shaytan are weak. So the plots of his helpers are even weaker! We only need to rely on Allah.. The US retreated from Afghanistan even though they had airpower advantage. This advantage can not break our willpower.. And there's nothing wrong with profiting from politics of countries (like Qatar & Turkey) if this doesn't effect our Aqeedah.

 

Part 2

 

Reeducation of the movement:

After the events in Shaam & in general we see that the Jihadi movement needs be reeducated on the teachings of Sh. Azzam. Sh. Azzam was a school, his books & lectures should be taught because it solves many problems the Mujahideen now have. Sh. Azzam was a scholar & tutor: he had a lot of experience with the movement in general & the Mujahideen specifically.

 

Connecting to scholars:

Many scholars we visited we didn't debate: they just needed the correct information about us to change their judgment. It is the scholars of the Sultans who need to be debated: but they don't want any debate with us, unless it is in prison. The scholars of the Sultans (rulers) are not capable of a free and open dialogue with us, they flee from such a debate.

 

Many scholars who support us are not known because of security reasons, and we have contact with some of them in secret. We invited many sincere scholars -and they are in abundance- to a dialogue and for advice: a lot of them gave answer. One of the scholars who visited & advised us was the prominent Yemeni Sh. Awad Banajar, who stayed with us for 3 days. Many think that scholars are just those who the media promotes. This isn't so: many are on fronts, in prison or Martyred. One of the trails of this Ummah is that Muslims are separated from their sincere scholars who enjoy good & forbid evil.

 

About the Abbottabad letters:

The so called 'Letters of Abbottabad' (the US found in the house of Sh. Usama) are indeed real, but they are incomplete. The Letters of Abbottabad are very educative. I advise the brothers to read and study them. They discus important topics. The Letters of Abbottabad give good insight in the way Sh. Usama & his comrades thought about politics, strategy, media.. The enemy knows how dangerous Al-Qaedah is, that's why they closed more than 16 embassies around the world the past yrs.

 

The Fitna in Syria:

The only solution for the infighting in Shaam was and still is an Islamic court that judges over the various issues. JN is a blessed Mujahid group which is an active branch of AQ, their role in the Jihad of Shaam is not hidden for anyone. JN are amongst the first who started Jihad in Shaam, they made great sacrifices. In our eyes they have good politics. They refuted many accusations against them, even so they showed willingness to solve their disputes in an Islamic court. We say: anyone who is treated unjustly by JN (or any other group) should solve this with them in an Islamic court. Despite our compliments for JN we acknowledge that they could make mistakes, like any other group & our duty is advising.

 

The Bayah to Mullah Umar:

We were in Afghanistan under Mullah Umar, we gave him Bayah & fought with him. Until the Crusaders invaded Afghanistan. Mullah Umar sacrifices his state & authority in defending his brothers from the Muhajireen. He refused to give them up. We fought with him against the Crusader invasion. Then we came with the idea to spread as far as possible on earth. We spread in diff. countries to perform Jihad against the Crusaders & we still fight under M. Umar even if he's far away. Inside Afghanistan we obeyed the orders of Mullah Umar directly & outside we promised to complete our duty for which we left the country. Even tho we are far away, we are still on the obligatory Bayah & promise we gave and we see no reason for breaking it.

 

Our relation with Mullah Umar is not new, its more than 17jrs old. Its a very strong relation build on blood & sacrifice. The stances of M. Umar in defending Islam can't be denied: accepting the Muhajireen, defending them & facilitating them. M. Umar was very easy he gave Muhajireen freedom he let them prepare & train in Afghanistan & didn't force them to Bayah. Sh. Zarqawi for example had the freedom to open a training camp in the province of Herat without forcing him into Bayah. M. Umar gave Sh. Zarqawi also freedom to train his men in camp Farook (belonged to AQ) without forcing them to Bayah.

 

Concerning the Ikhwaan:

It shows lack of intellect thinking soft speech & inviting Muhammad Morsi to Tawbah is considered supporting the Taghoot. Allah even said to Musa & Harun that they must go to Pharaoh, the Taghoot, and invite him to religion with soft speech. Dr. Ayman did the same in his message, he called Muhammad Morsi to Allah and advised him with leniency and soft speech. Sh. Ayman was one of the first who rebuked the Ikhwaan Al-Muslimeen for their misguidance, in his book Al-Hasaad Al-Morr. The stance of Dr. Ayman towards the Ikhwaan, and our stance also, is showing the mistakes to them and advising them.

 

The Manhadj of Usama:

Sh. Ayman did not lose his control over the AQ branches. He still contacts us in Yemen, even about some detailed ops. We are still on the same AQ Manhaj & did not change. But we are people & could make mistakes, so we are open to advise. We are still on what Sh. Usama called to, as much as we can, and what the called to (Jihad) was nothing new in Islam. Allah will ask us how much we followed His Book & Sunnah. He did not ask us to follow someone besides the Prophet. The one who knows Sh. Usama, know how eager he was to follow the Quran & Sunnah, & how much Rahma he had for this Ummah.

 

Training new Mujahideen:

If people who attacked us in the past in their Dawah come to us now for Jihad: we mustn't defame them by nicknames. Nicknames like Surooriyah & Jaamiyah, especially if we know that it hurts them. Training them is a form of worship. We seek closeness to Allah by training & preparing them for Jihad, especially in these times when the enemies are many. What we suffered at their hands in the past we will be rewarded by Allah & we seek excuses for them; they didn't know us. They didn't know the reality of our Dawah & our work. We should not withhold knowledge that's good for this Ummah. It is enough that they accepted Jihad & asked us to train them. This development will clarify a lot of misunderstandings.
