Demona was dying.

As she stared in the bathroom mirror, her eyes sunken back into her head, that was the only thing running through her mind. She could barely even keep any food down these days, and as the dark circles only grew heavier and heavier, she wondered just how long she could keep pretending to Eddie that things were fine. Nancy had already started to ask her oddly specific questions, and she could tell that while Nancy likely hadn’t figured out exactly what was going on, she at least suspected that nothing was as good as they were all pretending. When was the last time Demona had stepped into the sun? When was the last time she had eaten a full meal? When was the last time she had gotten a full 8 hours of sleep?

A hand lifted to touch her cheekbone, and with a deep breath, she ran her hand over her whole face. Eddie was waiting with food in the kitchen, the familiar smell of pizza filling the air, but while it once would have had her rushing into the other room to grab the first slice, the smell alone was enough to make her nauseous. All she wanted to do was curl up on the couch and allow the darkness to wrap around her, but unless she expected Eddie to go on without her, she couldn’t do that. It wasn’t going to be long until it happened, anyways, so why rush what little time she had with the metal head?

Standing up, the blonde used the wall to walk back to the bedroom door, fully aware of how badly she was shaking. It only took a deep breath for her to finally stabilize herself, though, and blinking away the burning in her eyes, she walked over to the kitchen, eyes landing on the vampire in the kitchen. He looked . . . better than ever, if she was being honest, and it was almost as if her life fading had his own growing brighter than ever. She didn’t mind too much, though. After all, she had always said she would die for him, and if this was how it happened, then so be it. Leaning on the table, a smile pulled up at her lips, eyes landing on the pizza in front of him before she spoke.

”You really gotta learn how to cook something other than pizza, baby.”
