Pennies are vanishing.

 

Quarters have unusual Tails.

 

In 2022 they began the

American Women Quarters program,

and they flipped Washington's portrait.

 

 

This wasn't a silicone rubber imitation.

 

This was heavy compressed rubber.

 

50,000 pounds of compression.

 

On concrete, they would bounce perhaps

100 times when dropped, the bounce sound

sliding into a bumblebee like buzz.

 

We lost most of ours,

slamming it hard into the pavement,

and watching it disappear over the neighbors house across the street.
