Spinal Cord Injury

A spinal cord injury (SCI) is damage to the nerve bundle, usually caused by traumatic trauma (fractures, falls, accidents) or non-traumatic causes (tumors, infections), that disrupts communication between the brain and body. It causes, immediately or over time, partial or total loss of sensation, movement, and autonomic function (breathing, bowel/bladder) below the injury site.
