How do you solve a problem like COVID19?
What's most disturbing about this pandemic is that it's plain that humanity is barely better off than it was during the 1918-1920 Spanish Flu, a full century ago when humanity had none of the astounding technological power available to it now. Today, the crudest tactic of all has been applied – locking everything down, bar essential movement – something that cave people could have come up with. It's a scandal that our negative liberty modern governments are so unable to deal with this pandemic.
What is the No. 1 problem with this virus? Obviously, it's the fact that it's invisible. But is that actually true? In fact, it's visible through sick humans with the COVID19 symptoms. The problem is not the visibility of the virus, it's the collection of the information regarding where the sick people - hence the virus - are located.
Here's a simple logical binary. In every occupied household in the nation, the virus is either present in the household, or it’s not. Either the household contains infection – one or more infected people – or it doesn’t (no one in the household is infected). So, in order to get a map of where the virus is, all we need to do is ask every household! It really is that simple.
Who knows if the virus is present in your household if not the people who live in your household? This virus is transmitted by humans who live in houses, so there’s absolutely no doubt about how we need to approach the problem of finding out where the virus is.
Every household in the nation should be asked on a daily basis to go to a page on the internet and do two incredibly simple things:
1) Using your postcode/zipcode, select your household’s address from a national postal file.
2) Answer one question ... Is COVID19 present at your address?
You click on either YES (the virus is definitely or probably present) or NO (the virus is definitely not or probably not present).
The country's Health Service collects all of the data and creates a daily heat map of the country showing where the virus is definitely or probably present. Following algorithmic analysis of all the data, every household is sent a “heat” message every morning providing them with their lockdown status:
"You Are Locked Down Today (do not go out)."
OR
"You Are Not Locked Down Today (and can travel within a radius of x miles)."
All hot areas will be locked down. There is no need to lock down anywhere else. The people in “cold” (virus-free) zones can go about their normal business, but, given the circumstances, should also take basic precautions, such as regular handwashing and wearing masks in public.
We all know what the hot zones will be: hospitals, medical centers, care homes, and all densely packed areas, especially households with many occupants (which will be the case in poor parts of cities, or where people live in extended family units, with several family generations living at one address).
There is nothing mysterious about viral transmission – the virus targets those people who are in close contact with the infected. It can’t get to those who are not in any contact with the infected.
In this way, using this simple procedure on a day-to-day basis, the virus can be tracked all across the nation. The whole country doesn't have to be locked down, only the areas where it is visibly present (i.e. causing illness).
People might point out that many people are asymptomatic and don't know if they have the virus. The effects of such people will become visible very quickly because even if they’re not sick, people around them will get sick, and the whole area will then be locked down, preventing the asymptomatic from moving around.
This system can of course be turned into a smartphone app and become dynamic and mobile, operating in real time. People's phones will literally show them where the virus is, and thus the places they should avoid. This is more or less how South Korea has handled the crisis, with astounding success.
South Korea has used its technology to make the virus's location visible. The Western powers - the negative liberty nations - don't have a clue where the virus is. They're terrified of asking the people any questions, of collecting any data, of being accused of being BIG BROTHER. Just look at the outcome - health services overwhelmed, tens of thousands dead, whole economies wrecked, millions unemployed ... all because governments daren't monitor households and individuals for their health status because negative liberty governments aren’t allowed to do things like that. It’s “intrusive”, “an invasion of privacy”, “the slippery slope to Nazism”, "mass surveillance", "the surveillance State", or whatever.
The greater the number of conspiracy theorists and libertarians in a nation, the worse the COVID19 epidemic in that nation.
It's time for positive liberty.
COVID19 should never have happened. At the first sign of trouble - the very first cases – every household in every country should have been asked to start declaring its viral health status daily. The presence of the virus would have been made visible overnight, and all this mayhem would have been avoided. A tiny number of postcodes or zipcodes would have been quarantined for a month, and that would have been the end of the problem.
The world isn't suffering from a COVID19 pandemic, it's suffering from a stupidity pandemic. It's suffering from an absolute inhibition on the part of governments to interact with their citizenry. Amazon has warehouses of information about you, while the government doesn't know a fucking thing about you – other than your tax return data (money, money, money). Why is it OK for a private corporation like Amazon to know everything about you - without a complaint from you - while you resist to the end the idea that the government can collect basic information about your health?
YOU are to blame for the COVID19 virus - because you opposed positive liberty and denied government the means to end the pandemic in a matter of days. The countries least affected by the pandemic are those with much stronger and more intervenionist governments. 1 + 1 = 2.
All the libertarians, conspiracy theorists, anarchists, anti-Statists, predatory capitalists, anti-collectivists and Randroids are reaping exactly what they sowed – a deadly global disease … something that could and should have been shut down in days, given the incredible power and ubiquity of modern technology.
Don't blame 5G for the pandemic, blame your fucking selves. You are guilty. This is all your fault. You are the vector of virus transmission, not a 5G tower. Let’s face it … you are the REAL virus.
Donald Trump stood at a podium and announced that the whole thing was a hoax. Instead, he should have stood at a podium and announced a simple internet form that every household had to fill in daily for the next three months.
Why is it so much easier to imagine national leaders branding pandemics hoaxes rather than actually asking any citizen to actively do something to help the country (nothing more strenuous than selecting an address and answering one question in ten seconds!).
This really is the Idiocracy. For those of us who are intelligent, it's terrifying that we are surrounded by so many morons! Their stupidity could literally be the death of us, and of the whole human race.
The intelligent mustn't tolerate this any longer. It's time to kick out all the cretins - the super-rich elitists like Donald Trump and all his sycophantic cronies, hangers-on and lickspittles, and all the privileged political clowns and buffoons like Boris Johnson who don’t have a fucking clue what they’re doing.

All because governments aren't allowed to ask citizens basic questions. All because of the absurd idea that governments and States are inherently sinister and evil and up to no good.

In the UK, probably over 95% of the population do not have and have not had the virus, and have probably been nowhere near it. It is restricted to a few hot zones. Yet no one knows where these hot zones are because no information is being gathered. People - those who either have the virus or not - are not being asked the basic question: are you infected? Instead, government scientists blabber on about ineffectual, chaotic tests. Why don't you just fucking ask people? People know if they're sick or not! This most certainly isn't rocket science. You don't need to have a doctorate to assess whether or not you're ill. Why aren't people being allowed to self-declare? It would give the government an instant picture of what's going on, and it would probably be 95% accurate!
If asking people their viral status on a daily basis was something that could be turned into a commodity, if it were something that could be monetized, you can bet that predatory capitalism would be all over it, squeezing every cent of profit out of it. Amazon knows everything about your purchasing behavior, and is making a fortune in the present crisis - but where is the Amazon that collects the health data that makes the virus visible so that we can shut down the virus? Nowhere to be found. No one has found the means to make money from such an exercise, so it isn't allowed. Predatory capitalism isn't interested, and so negative liberty government isn’t interested either.
Government should do such things, but no one trusts elected governments – despite voting for them - yet they have infinite trust in unelected private corporations like Amazon – for which no one voted and which are entirely unaccountable to the people. You're all hoist with your own fucking petard.
This is just another typical day in Predatory Capitalism world, TRUMP WORLD. Ayn Rand – the saint of the far right – imagined the abolition of elected government and its replacement by a totalitarian regime of the entrepreneurial super rich. That’s more or less today’s USA, an obscene Plutocracy, stinking to high heaven of inheritance, privilege, nepotism and cronyism.
Predatory Capitalism - and the pandemic of stupidity and hatred of government it has engendered - is literally killing us all. It's even killing itself. Predatory capitalism has infected itself with its own poison and dumb assery, and now the whole shitshow is falling apart.
Forget handwashing, facemasks, hand sanitizers, contact tracing, scattergun testing, and all the rest of it. To stop an epidemic at Stage One – a day or two after the appearance of Patient Zero in any country - all that is needed is INFORMATION. Just send information to your central healthcare system and tell them whether you have the symptoms or not, and, in no time at all, the virus will be completely visible, and stopped before it can travel any further.
Without information, we are blind to where the virus is, and just look at what has happened as a result. Tens of thousands of people have died, millions of jobs have been lost, and a Depression has been caused ... all because we live in a world where governments are implicitly forbidden from asking you to give your address and say whether or not your household has the virus.
How many of you have stated to any official organization what your COVID19 status is? Answer = zero. So how the fuck would the government know where the virus is? Since it’s as blind as a bat (not the bat that caused the virus!), it needs to shut down the whole frigging country. 1 + 1 = 2.
This is a crisis of INFORMATION, and nothing else. COVID19 is simply a marker for how the incredible amount of information that predatory capitalist corporations hold on us is totally irrelevant and useless in the present situation. None of the information that is actually needed is being collected by anyone, and government is literally too scared to collect it, or even worse, ideologically opposed to collecting it! Or even worse, has no trust in the people to furnish it.
People think nothing of filling in forms for buying shit, and think nothing of posting endless shit on social media, yet ask them to tell their government if they have the virus or not and they're out protesting on the streets and waving their Second Amendment assault rifles. What a fucking joke. People deserve everything that's happening to them. This is the direct product of their own "logic" and insane beliefs.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with you". We don't need your fucking thoughts and prayers, we need intelligent people gathering intelligent information and providing an intelligent solution. We don't even need vaccines and treatments if we simply use data intelligently and work out every address at which the virus is definitely or probably present. Then the virus is fully visible and we can easily deal with it.
Knowledge is power. To stop the virus, we need to know where the virus is, and where it isn't. That information is fully available via none other than OURSELVES – i.e. those who are either carrying the virus or not carrying it. We contain 100% of the data needed to end this crisis. All that is required is for the data to actually be collected from us. How hard is that? Seemingly the hardest thing of all!
What is positive liberty? It’s doing something for the collective good that will benefit you individually too.
What is negative liberty? It’s doing nothing but helping yourself, and hating on the collective, which you see as sinister and oppressive and somehow restricting your “freedoms”.
In a positive liberty State, you get off your fat ass and do things for the collective good. In a negative liberty State, you moan about the government, and obsess over yourself. Just look around you to see the effect. Just look at all the drivel on social media.
People have endless time to play video games, watch Netflix, jerk off to porn, buy crap online, listen to shit music, promote mad conspiracy theories, post bonkers nonsense on social media – and no time at all to do the only thing that will actually solve the pandemic … tell the government if the virus is present in your household, or not, so that the government can produce a viral map of the country, and know what parts to lock down to end the virus’s transmission.
No government could do that in the Spanish Flu epidemic. Every major nation in the world can do it now. Barely none is actually doing it. Isn’t that astounding? A mountain of capitalist spending data exists, and no data at all about where the virus that has wrecked capitalism is located. This information is not hard to come by. Each and every one of us knows what our own condition is, and, bar a small number of asymptomatics, our self-diagnosis will usually be 100% correct.
Why are governments using hospital admissions, intensive care occupancy, and deaths, as their metrics – talk about closing the stable door after the horse has bolted! – rather than trusting the people to declare their own status with regard to the virus? It’s madness. Are governments really this stupid, or the people, or both? Welcome to predatory capitalist democracy – government of the fools, by the clowns, for the super rich elite living in gated communities where they will never get the virus from the unwashed masses.
