Vantara, Anant Ambani's 3,500-acre wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center in Jamnagar, has drawn attention for its scale and ambition. Officially inaugurated on March 3, 2024, this Reliance-backed project aims to set new global standards in animal welfare. While celebrated for its state-of-the-art facilities, including Asia’s first wildlife hospital with advanced diagnostics and specialized rescue centers, Vantara also faces scrutiny. A South African organization has raised concerns over the ethical implications of exporting wild animals from South Africa to the facility. Despite these concerns, Vantara boasts impressive features such as housing over 25,000 rescued wild animals, operating Asia's largest veterinary pharmacy, and having conducted over 250 international animal rescue operations. It also focuses on preserving endangered species native to India and includes conservation breeding programs.
