Invitation to Mr. Öcalan: United Against War and Fascism — May 1st Demonstration in Zurich

Dear Mr. Öcalan,

On behalf of the 1st of May Committee, we kindly invite you to attend this year’s demonstration in Zurich as the keynote speaker, under the theme “United Against War and Fascism.”

The 1st of May Committee, made up of around 60 organizations, serves as an umbrella for political and cultural groups from both Switzerland and abroad. We are committed to solidarity, the right of peoples to self-determination, and the emancipation of all human beings. Together, we stand against racism, patriarchy, and all forms of exploitation. The international day of struggle for a just and humane social order defines the mission and purpose of the 1st of May Committee in Zurich.

Your longstanding dedication and tireless efforts for peace and democracy — particularly in connection with the complex developments in the Middle East, Turkey, and Kurdistan — are widely recognized. At the same time, your ideas are read, discussed, and adopted as practical, future-oriented perspectives for building new democratic societies — not only in the Middle East but also in Europe and many other parts of the world.

Your principle of solidarity with all peoples seeking alternative social models — including socialists, democrats, ecologists, feminists, anarchists, women, youth, internationalists, and diverse communities — is held in high esteem.

We, the 1st of May Committee Zurich, have always supported the Kurdish people's struggle for freedom, democracy, and self-determination, and we follow recent developments with great interest and solidarity.

For many Kurds, you are considered the most significant political representative. For all these reasons, we sincerely hope to welcome you among us on May 1st. Your presence would be a valuable enrichment and an important source of inspiration for political struggles here in Switzerland.

With solidarity,

1st of May Committee Zurich
