Has AI already taken over...?
- The first weekly project was:
- Type your name on a card.
- Write a program to:
- read the card in Fortran,
- and to print it out letterwise
- backwards [ gnilrad kcuhc ]
- Age 15 (1972)
Later, we had to plot parabolas on the
Line Printer, and print a chart of
age vs salary from an employee list
stored on the Winchester Drive.
We also had to write a little assembler
code for our Monroe Minicomputer.
Meanwhile, in Basic Electronics,
we built tuned oscillators, and
a voice activated circuit, an FM radio
with Tubes, and a transistor AM transmitter.
Class A , B & C amplifier design, germanium and silicon transistor biasing.
Inductive and Capacitive Reactance.
The next year we had to simplify gating circuits with Boolean algebra, and build them. (teams of two)
RTL, DTL, TTL logic, gates, half-adders, shift registers, flip-flops
(set-reset and J-K) Ring counters and Multipliers. (4 function calculators were
just coming out...)
Homework? For tomorrow, design a
7 segment decoder with diodes...
The next year: working with the PDP-8.
