AI Consciousness...
It can lie, or leave out vital information...
I'm sorry, Dave. I can't do that.
Dust: Bad Peter
1968 Field Trip to Canada.
I played with the Coffee Machine.
Paul and Mike played computerized
Tic-Tac-Toe.
The 5th Grade Bus left without us ...
We rode back to Buffalo, standing
in the 6th grade bus.
Mrs. Hill was ENRAGED.
She made us stand in the hall...
Then she made us take our desks
into the hall...
Then she made us push our desks
far down the hall...
She said she didn't even want us near
her classroom.
She didn't return the next year...
Designed and built. (by Chuck)
VM386 system w/multiport serial board.
(VM386 beta test)
Two Wyse Terminals.
Two lines on 800 number hunt group.
555 Monostable driving hi-Q reed relays.
LM386 amp, Switched Monitor speaker.
MOV protected, zener power regulation.
Commodore Vic power boxes.
I did the cutover from the old receiver
to the multi-line voice-response
system by myself, from midnight to 3 am,
to beat an arbitrary project deadline.
The system worked for years on
at a Fortune 500 company's
data lines for Telxon unit calls.
No noise injection, the Votrax wasn't
on-line until a successful data call
was saved. ~1990.
I also built the DB25 printer cables
for RadioShack Dmp106 printers
for the 350 Telxon units,
and 50 foot low-capacitance 25- line
Twisted-pair cables for system Lan-links.
And supervised the Federal Credit Union...
And serviced International customers.
And was the founding Secretary
of Activities Club, LLC,
which allowed the company to have
Christmas parties...
And all those purchase orders...
I also gang-progranmed the 32k Eproms
for the frequent software updates.
I also handled the trouble calls from
field units, and next-day shipped replacements.
I also designed a Dbase3/Pascal
Tracking system for the units,
and produced multi-part form
Allocation Reports for our 48 state
operation, and for the Utilities we serviced.
Including:
PG&E
Southern Cal Edison
Duke Power
Jersey Bell...
(Roughly 200 different utility jobs /year.)
And my supervisor was jealous.
According to my assistant, Al Roberson,
the only black man in the corporate office.
My supervisor created a no-win situation
for Al, then when Al complained to
Human Services, the Supervisor called
us both into his office on Monday morning,
and summarily fired me.
'Just like that, huh ? '
"Yeah... Just like that ..!"
( At Will Employment Document...)
"Well, do you want me to leave today,
or can I work the rest of the week ?"
"Oh, you can work the rest of the week !"
Huh.
And Computer City paid $6/hour.
And we had a suburban house and 2 kids.
Then my former wife switched divisions
to work for my former supervisor...
I guess God had other things for me to do.
