Cricket The men's Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and the West Indies (CWI) declared on Friday that the 13th CPL season will run from August 14 to September 21 this year. A CPL statement stated that there would once again be no conflict with international matches for the West Indies.
CPL CEO Pete Russell stated, "We are happy to have once again collaborated with Cricket West Indies to identify a window that permits the top players from throughout the region to participate in the CPL." "The 2024 season was our most successful to date and we are looking forward to building on that success in 2025."
The six clubs will compete in 30 league-stage games, as they have since 2022, before the elimination round, two qualifiers, and final round of the playoffs. The Guyana Amazon Warriors, Barbados Royals, Trinbago Knight Riders, St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, and Antigua and Barbuda Falcons who took the place of the Jamaica Tallawahs prior to the 2024 tournament will compete in the tournament alongside the reigning champion St. Lucia Kings.
"While CWI continues to play a leading role in shaping our overall cricket calendar, the CPL remains a key part of our cricketing ecosystem, playing an important role in the development and promotion of the game throughout the Caribbean," stated Lynford Inverary, CWI's acting chief executive and chief operating officer.
Venues, schedules, and other details will be revealed later. To help the teams assemble their rosters, there will be a draft and a round of pre-draft signings.
