  • This episode will be all about how volcanoes erupt.
  • [start]
  • Part 1: What does a Volcano look like?
  • A volcano is actually more complicated than you think.
  • Volcano lava comes from under the Earth, from the mantle of Earth. There, there is hot lava. In some places, there are cracks in the surface where lava comes out. The shape of a volcano comes from dried lava, which piles up.
  • There are sometimes cracks through the dried lava through which some lava can come through.
  • As more lava comes out, the volcano grows bigger. The bigger the volcano, the older it is.
  • Part 2: Dangers of Volcanoes
  • The dangers of volcanoes are a lot. Volcanoes don’t just have the lava danger, they also have the ash, smoke, and dried lava. The dried lava is also very hot, not as hot as the molten lava, but still very hot.
  • Ash and smoke can suffocate and poison you. Like in the eruption of Pompeii, there are pyroclastic surges that can fill a city with ash. Pompeii was an Ancient Roman city that was destroyed by a volcano.
  • Part 3: Pompeii
  • Pompeii was an Ancient Roman city that was destroyed by a volcano called Mt. Vesuvius. A lot of people died. I myself actually visited Pompeii during the summer, and saw the ruins. It was fun to see the Italian McDonalds. Fun fact: There was fast food in Pompeii.
  • Thanks for listening! I suggest you visit Pompeii. The next episode will be about Thunderstorms.
