Paradise, which operates foreign-only casinos in South Korea, said in a filing on Wednesday that casino sales fell 56.4% in November from a month earlier. On a year-on-year basis, the report showed an 85.4% drop.

The group's November casino sales were just under 9.75 billion won ($8.9 million), down from 22.35 billion won it achieved in October this year, and down from 66.71 billion won it achieved in November 2019.

Paradise's gaming operations are Walkerhill in Seoul, Jeju Grand in Jeju Island, Busan Casino in the southern port city of Busan, and Paradise City in Incheon, near the main international airport serving the capital city of Seoul.

With COVID-19 cases rising in South Korea, especially in Seoul, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters decided to tighten so-called social distancing protocols nationwide in the second half of November, with stricter measures applied to Seoul and surrounding areas so far.

The strengthening of Korea's COVID-19 response measures has affected casino businesses across the country. Grand Korea Leisure Inc., a foreign-only operator, temporarily closed all three casinos in Korea.

Paradise's table game sales fell 61.1% sequentially to nearly W7.95 billion in November. It was down 87.3% year-over-year, compared to just over W62.77 billion in November 2019.

Machine game sales fell 7.8% month-on-month to nearly 1.8 billion won last month. Compared to the same month last year, sales fell 54.2% in November.

Paradise Co's cumulative casino revenue for the calendar year to Nov. 30 was slightly above 293.03 billion won, down 59.0% from a year earlier, according to the most recent monthly data.

In the January-November period, cumulative table sales fell 59.9% year-on-year to 269.55 billion won, while overall machine game sales fell 43.4% year-on-year to just over 23.49 billion won in the first 11 months of this year.
