In 1996, Rabbi Ranon Teller returned to Israel with a renewed sense of purpose, determined to explore alternative approaches to Jewish practice and thought. Moving beyond the confines of Orthodox Judaism, he sought out new ways to experience spirituality, delving into contemporary Chasidic music and studying the teachings of Reb Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, a pioneer of Jewish Renewal. This period of self-discovery led him to audit classes at the Conservative rabbinical school in Jerusalem, where he engaged with a more inclusive and diverse understanding of Jewish tradition. Additionally, he participated in an intensive experiential Jewish education program, where he honed his skills in teaching and community engagement. During this transformative time, he realized his true calling lay in Jewish leadership, prompting him to pursue a formal path toward becoming a rabbi.
