"Logic Replacement"1000099269.png

"Inventor" of 6502 Microprocessor

Peddle thought of the 6502 as a cheap

Logic Replacement...

(which would have

mothballed DEC and Motorola's Logic Chip business)

Peddle had help build a typesetting system

built around the DEC PDP-11.

The PDP-11 architecture gave him ideas.

Peddle joined the Motorola team working on the 6800 microprocessor in 1971.

His major contribution was the development of the

which provided enhanced I/O capability to the microprocessor.

The 6502 worked the first time, and was

soon to be used in numerous Videos Game

Machines.

***

We all know that Steve Wozniak

Built the Apple I, and Apple Ii...

But who invented the

6502 Microprocessor ?

When interviewed, Peddle didn't know

the die size of the chip wafer...

Pavanin and Mensch designed the chip, according to Peddle.

And MOS was sued by Motorola..., after ATARI went with MOS...

MOS built video improvements

for  Commodore's Vic-20 and C-64.

The 6502 based Commodore Pet

Computer had  directly competed with Wozniak's Apple,

Until Steve Wozniak invented

an inexpensive diskette drive...

The Pet, like the early Apple,

used Cassette Tape Storage.

The Apple Diskette clinched it

for Apple...

The MOS 6502 was NMOS.

Apple later designed the CMOS 6502C.
