Wireless Emergency Phone

Payphones are disappearing...
Wiring in modern cities is continuously
being cut by fiber-optic installs,
gas line and water line repairs,
and copper pirates
Your parking meters are solar charged...
Simple Smartphones are inexpensive.
So inexpensive, and using so little
copper, they're not worth stealing...
A Smartphone mounted in a phone box,
without touch screen access, could be
voice activated to call.
The case could completely
surround the phone, to make it
relatively vandal-proof.
The calls could be monitored ...
911 service can be denied, re-routed to
to the line monitor, who would assess
the situation. Camera photos could
fight vandalism.
The city could pay for the cell service,
single lines are a dollar per day ...
Sometimes motorists have car trouble
and no phone.
Sometimes people are assaulted
and robbed of their phones...
