Nevada casino revving it up

Classic chrome polished cars, rock n' roll and Lake Tahoe will make for a Hot August Nights to remember, August 6-9 at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa, the host site for one of the area’s most highly attended summer events.

The South Lake Tahoe leg of the famed Northern Nevada car show arrives at 6,225 feet elevation, with arguably the best hot rod backdrop in the world: the nation's most famous crystal cool, blue lake.

Car lovers from far and wide can saddle themselves in the driver's seat and set cruise control for three straight days and nights with MontBleu as the headquarters for show-n-shines, car exhibits, exclusive car auctions, cruises and an outdoor pavilion with food, beverages and great oldies music. Take in the sun with the top down, and then at night step inside MontBleu to unwind Tahoe-style, with music, dining and a host of shows, including Aaron Lewis, August 6 and KC & The Sunshine Band, August 7 in the MontBleu Theater.

To take the lead and beat the rush, car enthusiasts are encouraged to blow in Friday night for an early start to the festivities. Official check-in at MontBleu is Saturday morning from 8 a.m. with the day’s featured show-n-shine runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with a classic car auction from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., also at the popular resort/hotel.

Country music star and the former lead singer and founding member of Staind, Aaron Lewis, kicks off the weekend of entertainment, Saturday, August 6 with the debut of his solo album, Town Line and the hit single, "Country Boy." Lewis is nominated for the CMT’s Breakthrough Video of the Year and the 2011 winners will be announced, Wednesday, June 8.

At MontBleu, be ready to stroll before you roll, Sunday, August 7, from morning to afternoon with check-ins and judging, a poker walk, plenty of vendors and food booths, a classic car auction and more. From 7 to 9 p.m. classic cars will roam South Lake Tahoe with a sunset cruise. Once the cars are down for the night, it’s time to step into those boogie shoes as KC & The Sunshine Band celebrate the best of summer in true American music style.

A fitting late-night crescendo to all-things good times, KC & The Sunshine Band's pioneering funk and disco beats has set the course for generations of music-loving car cruise fans, where 8-tracks ruled and the road demanded good-time music. Along with the Beatles, KC is the only artist to have four number one singles in the span of one year: Boogie Shoes, Get Down Tonight, That's the Way I Like It, and Rock Your Baby. Tickets start at $33. To purchase call (888) 829-7630/ (775) 588-3515 or: www.montbleuresort.com.

Monday morning chrome shows begin with check-ins, followed by show-n-shines, hot rod judging, poker walks, car auctions and plenty of displays with food and vendors throughout the day at MontBleu. Car owners will get a chance to show off their street-style with a Monday night cruise through South Lake Tahoe, followed by a Sock Hop from 8 to midnight at MontBleu Theater.

The final leg of Tahoe's Hot August Nights at MontBleu begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday with a poker walk, show-n shine, outdoor judging and more.
