Nail Broth...
My Mom always loved Danny Kaye.
Her dad, Grampa Ronald, was one of
twelve brothers. One of them, named
Rogers, went into Vaudeville...
I got my Mother to buy a $20 dollar
Ukulele from Ed's True Value Hardware,
for her Granddaughter for her High School
Graduation present.
She was Valedictorian
of Sacred Heart Academy, and received
a scholarship to Georgetown University.
I repaired the action, but since it was small,
the strings didn't hold tension.
(It had inexpensive friction pegs ...)
I retuned it from G to C, and the pegs held.
I bought a Ukulele chord sheet,
and renamed the chords
for the higher pitch.
Allison thanked me for doing that,
saying she knew she would never
look them up
by herself ...
I cut a large eight pointed star from
a CD, and inlaid it into the headstock.
She liked it...
This was Mom's gift to Allison,
I gave her a Visa Gift Card with
$84 dollars on it...
"Minga...!" said Aunt Rosita Lucchesi.
I suggested that she take it to
College with her, because it was
smaller and more portable than
the guitar ...
But I don't think she ever did ...
Maybe she did.
I hope so.
