Chapter 24: Moving In: Pt 1

Lilia’s POV:

It had been a week since Cassie’s incident, but she’s thankfully much better than before. It was finally time to move into our dorms, and I got paired up with Cassie, Aurora and Nixie.

“Bye Lilia! We’ll see you in the Winter break!” Mum called from the car window, before waving and driving off.

It was probably sad for them to see me go, since I don’t have any siblings, at least not now

My older sister went missing 7 years ago and I really miss her. The police searched and searched for years, but we never found her. She was declared dead earlier this year. I waved to my parents one last time, before I walked into the glass doors. The second I walked in with my luggage, Aurora came rushing over to me with her arms outstretched.

“LILIA!” She yelled, and I winced at the loud noise.

“Yes?” I replied calmly, and Aurora continued running, making many heads turn to her.

“Let’s go to our dorm!” She squealed, and grabbed my hand.

I nearly toppled over my suitcase but I couldn’t help but laugh at Aurora’s excitement. I was probably the last one to arrive, because all 3 of my roommates were there already.

“Hey Lils!” Cassie chirped.

“Hey Cassie! How are you now?” I asked, remembering her disease.

“Oh, I’m okay now!” She smiled, and Aurora fumbled with the dorm keys, and finally unlocked the door.

I took a peek inside, and it was a pretty decent size for 4 students.

“Dibs choosing a room first!” Nixie smirked, and bolted inside.

“Dibs second!” Cassie said quickly, running after Nixie.

“Dibs third!” Aurora chirped, and walked inside calmly.

Seriously? The most jumpy of us all is the one that walked, not ran?!

“I swear guys, what’s up with you and dibbing?” I snorted, dragging my suitcase inside.

----------------------------------------------------

I huffed, wiping the sweat off my forehead after heaving my box of books onto the desk.

“Yo, Lils, we’re ordering food and taking a break.” Nixie called from behind me.

“Finally, I’m starving!” I sighed, straightening my back and looking around the room.

It looked like a literal pigsty. Chunks of styrofoam scattered across the floor, nails sinking into the carpet beside the unfinished bed frame. On top of the mattress, there was my suitcase, wide open with its contents spilled everywhere. I sighed and flopped down onto the mattress. I would’ve dozed off if I didn’t hear Aurora’s loud voice screaming:

“GUYS THE FOOD IS HERE!” She yelled, and I jerked up.

Heart hammering, I stood up, carefully walking towards the door and to the kitchen. The school was nice and set up our kitchen, lounge room and dining area, but we had to do everything else. The mouth-watering smell of pizza wafted up to my nose, and I saw Nixie, Aurora and Cassie seated around a small, round table in front of a TV.

“Finally! I’m so hungry!” I smelled the warm pizza and took a seat.

“What progress did you guys make in your room?” Nixie asked once I was seated.

“Eh, I just fixed my bed frame and started to organise my wardrobe.” Cassie shrugged.

“You think that’s little? I literally finished half of the bed frame and I nearly fell asleep.” I snorted, taking a bite of the pizza, only to burn the roof of my mouth.

“Oh, shoot it’s hot-” Aurora hissed, fanning her mouth. “I only managed to sort out my wardrobe.”

“I didn’t even start on my room yet, I was doing the bathroom.” Nixie rolled her eyes. “You're welcome.”

I snorted and switched on the TV.

“What do y’all wanna watch?” I asked, flicking through the channels and apps.

“Hey, my family has Disney+, do you guys want me to sign in?” Aurora suggested.

“Yeah, sure! Maybe we can watch Sleeping Beauty, Aurora?” Nixie giggled, and Aurora gave her a good humoured whack on the shoulder.

“Wait, let's vote!” Cassie piped up.

“Ooh, smart! I vote for Tangled!” I chirped.

“I vote for Zootopia!” Aurora said, nearly choking on her slice of pizza.

“Zootopia here too!” Nixie giggled, patting Aurora on the back.

“I’m going for Tangled too.” Cassie chimed in, only to make a face. “Great, it’s a tie.”

“I own the account! Zootopia it is!” Aurora giggled, and snatched the remote.

“Hey!” I laughed, and threw a pillow at her.

She easily dodged the pillow and threw one at me.

“Pillow fight! Let’s go!” Nixie joined it, but Cassie quietly took the remote without anyone noticing.

“Okay, I’m putting Wish on.” She laughed, noticing how frazzled my hair looked.

“Eww, no! I watched it, and it was horrendous!” Nixie wrinkled her nose, and Cassie laughed.

“Okay, fine. Raya and The Last Dragon?” She suggested.

“Yes! I literally love that one!” Aurora piped up, and we all murmured in agreement.

Cassie shrugged and smiled to herself. She put the movie on, and we all sat and ate the pizza together.

It’s great that I can finally relive the memory of having a sister…
