Spiritual seekers around the world have access to a vast array of different techniques, that are designed to help them advance in their consciousness and experience a better and more meaningful reality than the one they currently live in.
Most of these developmental techniques are meditations and almost all of them originate from Indo-Asian religious and philosophical systems, while meditations originating in the Western Hemisphere do not exist, or if they do, their existence and methodology are not known to the general public of spiritual seekers.
Considering that there are many meditation techniques and the definitions of meditation will be different, we can say that meditation is a special procedure, the purpose of which is to make progress in the development of the meditator's consciousness.
All meditations available to spiritual seekers, despite their diversity, have certain common characteristics, on the basis of which we can divide them into two groups: Ego meditations and non-Ego meditations.
It seems that the Ego type of meditation is the type of meditation that is predominantly practiced throughout the world, and in the next presentation of the types of meditation we will pay more attention to the non-Ego type of meditation.
Thus, the main feature of Ego-meditations is their direction, which is manifested through volitional-mental processes, as the main approach to the development of spiritual consciousness.
This means that the practitioner of this type of meditation takes and maintains certain body positions, controls the speed and frequency of breathing, concentrates thoughts on internal sensations or some external object, visualizes a certain situation, state or object of life, “erases thoughts”... and many other processes not mentioned.
Common to all of the listed actions is the desire to achieve some goal and changes in the consciousness of the meditator, physical body or life circumstances, which raises the level of vibrations of your brain waves in the frequency range from 14 to 35, even to 100 Hertz.
In non-Ego meditations the approach to the development of consciousness is different and, in essence, it is about renewing contact with one’s own Soul during meditation.
To be successful, this process requires months of proper preparation, including the need for healing of the future meditator's energy system by meditation instructors, training and some independent practice of hand and chakra healing, achieving a high level of stability of the energy part of the thinking system and, as an important prerequisite, the development of consciousness achieved in previous incarnations, manifested in goodwill and positivity, mental experience and interpretation of the world around us, creativity and intellectual curiosity, development of empathy, detachment and disinterest in acquiring material things and a career in society, the questioning of the purpose of one's own existence... and many other similar characteristics.
We can say that these are the ideal prerequisites for doing any kind of non-Ego meditation, but they do not in themselves guarantee progress in the development of consciousness, and people who do not have most of the mentioned prerequisites can also practice this type of meditation.
In essence, the most important thing is the quality of the connection you establish with your Soul, as well as the ability to change yourself in accordance with the impulses coming from it, which will lead you to your alignment with the Life Purpose of your current incarnation, whatever it is, it will not necessarily be entering Enlightenment.
In non-Ego meditation based on receptivity, the vibration level of the meditator's brain waves decreases and ranges from 7 to 0.15 frequencies of Hertz and even lower.
We think that this brief description of the two main types of meditation has served its purpose, and which type of meditation is chosen, will depend on the level of development of your conscience and the motives that lead you to it, but whatever your motives may be, we wish you progress and benefit from the practice of meditation.
