The prefectural authorities in Osaka, Japan, will begin a proposal request (RFP) process this summer to develop what local authorities call the "Yumeshima Phase II" project.
The schedule was agreed upon by officials from Osaka Prefecture, Osaka City and Sakai City at a meeting last week, according to Japan's GGRAsia correspondent.
The Yumeishima Phase 2 project contains a 50-hectare (123.6-acre) site on the Yumeishima artificial island (file photo) designated as the host site of the 2025 Osaka Kansai Expo. Osaka authorities have planned the second phase of Yumeshima as a project with entertainment facilities to work with Osaka casino resorts, according to information gathered by GGRAsia correspondent.
By the end of this year, the Osaka Prefecture will have to establish a master plan for the second phase of Yume Shima. After the Osaka Expo 2025, that is, next fall, the prefectural government will start the RFP process and select a developer to carry out the second phase of the project.
According to official information, the Osaka Expo event will be held from April 13 to October 13 next year.
