Women's Volleyball to Play in VNL in 2025

A match between Korea and the Dominican Republic in the 2023 International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Bali Nations League (VNL) held at West Suwon Chilbo Gymnasium in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi-do on the 29th. Korean players, who lost 3-0 with a set score, greet their fans after the match.

South Korean women's volleyball, which had a disgraceful 2023 year, will continue to participate in the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) for another year.

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) introduced the VNL process from 2025 to 2027 on its website on the 14th, based on the increase in the number of VNL participating countries from the current 16 to 18.

Launched in 2018, the VNL will run as a competition of 16 countries, including 12 key countries and four challenging countries. Korea, which was ranked 10th in the FIVB rankings at the time of the tournament's launch, was able to play in the VNL match until this year despite its rapidly falling world ranking (40th as of Friday) after 2022. Considering the current ranking and global trends, however, it was uncertain whether Korea will play in the VNL match from 2025.  토토사이트

However, the FIVB now has another chance to participate in the 2025 event. The FIVB defines the participating countries for men and women in 2025 as the highest ranking team among the 16 participating countries in the 2024 VNL, the 2024 Bali Challenger Cup winners, and the teams that fail to qualify. The bottom line is that the participating countries in the 2024 event will be able to participate as they are, and two more countries will be able to participate.

It is not certain whether the team will participate from the 2026 event or not. The team will be eliminated from the lowest ranking (18th) due to the VNL result in 2025, and the team with a higher world ranking will fill the spot. The status of a core country that has been granted automatic participation will not be applied.

South Korea lost all 12 games in the VNL 2023 following 2022. There are variables depending on the power of the 17th and 18th countries, but it is true that the competitiveness is poor in the past two years. Various changes are being sought to strengthen international competitiveness. Attention is focusing on whether Korean women's volleyball will continue to participate in the most prestigious volleyball tournament based on annual events.
