Kim Sung-hyun Tied for 3rd on the first day of the PGA Tour Phoenix Open

Kim Sung-hyun tied for third in the first round of the WM Phoenix Open (total prize money of $8.8 million) on the PGA Tour.

 

Kim Sung-hyun recorded a 4-under 67 with one eagle, five birdies, and three bogeys in the first round of the tournament at TPC Scottsdale (par 71, 7,261 yards) in Scottsdale, Arizona, on the 9th.

 

Kim Sung-hyun, who tied for third place with Shane Lowry of Ireland, is two strokes ahead of Sahith Sigala of the U.S., who is the lone lead at 6-under 65.

 

Kim Sung-hyun, who debuted on the PGA Tour last season, was the best performance in September last year when he finished runner-up in the Fortinet Championship.

 

Kim Sung-hyun, who started the game at the 10th hole (par 4), posted an eagle putt at a distance of about 2.7 meters at the 13th hole (par 5), following a birdie at the 12th hole (par 3).

 

Kim Sung-hyun once tied for the lead at six under par, but finished the last two holes with consecutive bogeys, falling to tied for third place.

Ahn Byung-hoon is tied for 79th after losing one shot in eight holes, and Lee Kyung-hoon is tied for 97th after losing two shots in four holes.

 

Kim Joo-hyung, who finished the first round with a 3-over 74 shot, was pushed down to a tie for 111th.

 

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler of the U.S., who is aiming for his third consecutive victory in the tournament, is tied for 18th with two birdies and one bogey in six holes, recording one under par.

 

Lucas Glover of the U.S. failed to participate in the tournament because he mistook the start time of the first round.

Japan's Hisatsune, who was No. 1 in waiting list, got lucky to play in lieu of Glover. Hisatsune tied for 97th with a two-over-par 73 in the first round.
