A chill ran through Callie as she glanced around the woods, arms wrapping tight around her. How she had gotten out here, she wasn't sure, but after waking up in a pile of leaves in nothing but a short skirt and a long sleeved shirt that she swore she had burned, her only goal had been to find a way back to town. She didn't care what town, anywhere was better than the middle of the woods by herself. Had she gotten too drunk? Had she been drugged?? All of these were questions that flooded her mind, but the second she heard a twig snap, they slipped away and her eyes snapped behind her with a gasp of surprise.

Above the trees, birds flew off in two directions, escaping whatever was headed her way. A single step was taken backwards, but she needed to know what was following her. A deep breath filled her lungs, and taking two steps forward, Callie called out.

"You better get your ass out here and show yourself, you fucking coward!"

She was met with silence, and for a moment, she thought maybe it had been nothing more than an animal. It wouldn't be unusual, given where she was, but all it took was the sound of a far too familiar chuckle for her to realize just what was happening. Her eyes grew wide as he stepped out of the woods, and as she tried to step backwards, she tripped over a stick, falling on the ground. In front of her, hands in the pockets of his jeans, Darrien just smiled. He was wearing the shirt she had gotten him at the concert they had gone to together, and for a moment, she was completely frozen on the ground.

"Still got that spunk in you, eh Callie-Cat?" A hand reached out to help her off the ground, and instantly fight or flight kicked in. Callie twisted in the leaves, bolting off as fast as she could in the opposite direction of him. Her boots were making it difficult to stay up in the leaves, though, and despite half-crashing into the trees around her, she ran for a solid 5 minutes at least. By the time she stopped, her heart was pounding heavy in her chest, and she could barely breathe. Her ankles were hurting from running in those damn combat boots, and her throat was already sore from trying so hard to breathe.

Leaning back against a tree, Callie shut her eyes, focusing on her breathing. The world was silent around her, and that alone told her that she was finally safe. However, just as everything else around her, that safety was merely an illusion. It wasn't long before she felt a hand land over her mouth, and instantly her eyes widened. Staring back at her were two piercing blue eyes, clearly belonging to Darrien. A smirk dressed his lips, and as he stepped around from the back of the tree, he stood less than an inch away from her, shushing her as she tried to drop herself to the ground. He held her against the tree with his hand pressed against her mouth, though, and he only released her mouth in favor of grabbing her by the chin instead.

"Now, is that really how you want to treat your boyfriend after so many years apart??"

She could feel old feelings resurfacing, the butterflies tugging at her stomach as she stared into those gorgeous eyes, but she knew what was really happening. She couldn't fight it, though, and she was helpless as she relaxed against her will, the male leaning down to kiss her.

A hard, loud gasp shot out of the brunette as she woke up, eyes wide as she stared straight ahead. The room was dark, and she could barely make out the dresser on the opposite side of the room, but she was in the safe house instead of the middle of the woods. The arm draped over her was far too large to belong to Darrien, too, and despite how hard her heart was beating, she knew she was safe. Logan was there, not the other mutant, and she had no reason to feel as if Darrien was going to walk out of the dark shadows.

Allowing herself to relax, Callie's eyes slowly started to slip shut again. She didn't think she would be able to fall asleep, not yet at least, but it would be the better alternative than trying to get out from under Logan's arm without waking him up. She was comfortable, after all, and she was--

snikt.

The sound of metal being pulled out of a sheath snapped her out of her thoughts, and another gasp forced its way out of her as her eyes snapped open again. This time, every muscle in her body was tight, and as she gripped the pillow, she slowly looked around the room to try and figure out where it had come from . . . only for her eyes to land on a set of metal claws embedded deep in the mattress beneath the two.
