Variable Transpiration

Re: Variable Transpiration
It has recently been established
that Green Light, ~520nm,
catalyzes the evaporation
of water in a hydrogel.
Leaves are green...
The innate color of Chlorophyll
Pigments must have an effect
on the Transpiration of the plant.
Young leaves are bright green,
which presumably would maximize Transpiration in
a growing plant. This would
draw nutrients from the soil,
and would help dry and aereate
the spring-soggy soil at the roots.
As leaves mature, they usually
darken... perhaps to conserve
water by reducing the evaporation rate.
Late summer annuals tend to
yellow, again adjusting the rate.
Some insects are bright green...
perhaps their metabolism gets
a boost from the activated h2O.
Few birds are green, except in
tropical areas, where moisture
is in abundance.
Other colors may function better
for water conservation/predator
avoidance.
If the sky looks greenish, it
usually foretells thunderstorms
and tornadoes...increased evaporation...?
Think about this.
