"Amen Corner" where the sound of "Amen" comes out automatically…It's a game-winner again this year

The final fourth round of the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club (par 72) in Augusta, Georgia, on the 15th (Korea time) was also decided at the "Amen Corner." Scottie Scheffler (USA), who passed the Amen Corner relatively safely, won the Masters, and the competitors who made big mistakes in the Amen Corner missed the championship.

Scheffler led the way with a total of 9 under par until the 10th hole just before Amen Corner, while Ludvig Overy (Sweden) and Max Homa (USA) were tied for second place with 7-under par.  메이저사이트

Hole 11, the first hole at the Amen Corner, is a par-4 hole, but players had a hard time due to the 520-yard long battlefield. The hole was picked as the most difficult hole at this year's event.

Scheffler failed to put his second shot with an iron on the green at the hole, and wrote down a bogey because the chip shot rolled more than 3 meters over the pin.

After taking the chance to catch up, Overy recorded a double bogey at the 11th hole (par 4), which dampened his spirits. Water was lurking around the green at the 11th hole, but he managed to drop his second shot into the water on the left side of the green. Overy, who committed a double bogey after failing to record a bogey as his fourth shot, which he hit after being penalized, was far from the pin, failed to seize the reins of pursuit.

Homa, who had a one-par difference due to Schaeffler's mistake at the 11th hole, made a big mistake at the 12th (par 3). Hole 12 has a length of only 155 yards, but a real stream flows between the teeing area and the green, and bunkers open their mouths to the front and back of the green, requiring accurate iron shots. However, Homa's tee shot went into the flower bed after the green, and Homa eventually received a penalty as he judged that he could not play in the area where the ball went. Since then, Homa made a double bogey at the same hole as his approach shot was inaccurate.

"I misjudged the wind when I was playing tee shot," said Homa, who is now three shots behind the leader. "I thought it was a good shot, but it ended up being a huge miss. This happens anytime in golf," he said in expressing regret.

"Obergine waited five to six minutes long at the fairway, and it was hard to grasp the wind," Obergine coach Peter Hanson said. "The 11th hole was probably the hardest shot by Oberg today."

Seppler birdied at the 13th hole (par 5), made a three-shot gap with second-place Overy, and made a perfect victory with a four-shot gap with a birdie at the 16th hole (par 3).

Aubrey, Homa could have caught up with Scheffler if not in the lead, only to lose a big point due to a mistake in the Amen corner.

The tragedy of Amen Corner is a tradition in the Masters. At Hole 12 in the final round of the 2013 Masters, Bubba Watson made a triple bogey in which he shot seven more pars than the standard par-three.

In 2016, Jordan Spieth of the U.S. also bogeyed at Hole 11 on the final day, before posting a quadruple bogey in which he lost four pars compared to the standard par at Hole 12. He played the ball on the green after just six shots.
