Macau authorities reported over the weekend that wearing masks in outdoor areas will no longer be mandatory from Monday, and decisions on whether to wear masks indoors could be made by the owner of the establishment.
This is stated in the correct recommendation: "From Monday, February 27, it will be safe not to wear a mask in most outdoor and indoor locations. This is because the risk from COVID-19 has decreased locally."
But Macau's Center for New Coronavirus Response and Coordination said it would leave it up to the building owner to decide whether to ask people to cover their mouths and noses in crowded places.
However, it is worth noting that wearing a mask was not mandatory in most situations, except for a short period of time during the COVID-19 outbreak in July before the announcement on Monday.

As mentioned above, since the new announcement took effect Monday morning, six conference companies - Melco Resorts, MGM China, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Sands China, SJM Resorts and Wynn Macao - have also been updating their guidelines for customers wishing to enter the casino grounds. The same goes for Cotai Real Estate City of Dreams Macau and Venetian Macao.
In addition, now they can enter each casino in Macau, whether they wear masks or not, and the decision is up to them.
One example of this is a notice issued to employees by one of the bidders, which said, "From midnight today, all customers and employees entering the resort, including casinos, do not need to wear masks. But if you have a fever, a sore throat, or a cough, you must wear a mask."
In addition, many Macau casinos, MGM Macao and Wynn Macao related to Grand Lisboa Peninsula properties are strictly complying with the newly enacted measures.
Many customers still decided to wear masks because they were afraid of getting sick.
In this regard, one customer said, "It is still necessary to wear a mask when riding transportation, but there is no restriction on indoor and outdoor activities, so we will continue to wear it at once and not have to take it off at other times when we travel to Macau."
