Drifting is one of the most thrilling and adrenaline-pumping activities in motorsports. The sheer feeling of pulling off a skillful skid at high speeds can excite anyone who is a fan of driving and racing. The Yas Marina Circuit, among its many community experiences, also offers drifting experiences. So, visitors can try drifting on the race track where Formula 1 championships are held. There are three types of drifting experiences for the visitors to experience. Read on to know more about them:
1. Yas Drift Night
For the Yas Drift Night, participants can bring their own vehicle into the Yas Marina Circuit, and try their hand at drifting on the race track. For this drifting experience, participants will have access to the North Circuit of the race track and the Vehicle Dynamic Area. They will get four hours of time on the track for their drifting experience. Drivers of both Novice and Intermediate levels can participate in Yas Drift Night.
As for the rules and requirements of the vehicles that you can bring for the Yas Drift Night, the official website of Yas Marina Circuit states the following:
- Saloon cars, sports cars, and sports bikes are permitted for Yas Drift Night.
- Pro and Street Cars will be allowed only after passing YMC’s safety tech inspection.
- For safety reasons, electric cars and heavy cars like SUVs and trucks are not permitted for Yas Drift Night.
- Before the event, all the vehicles that are brought in will go through a basic tech inspection.
- The tech inspection includes checks of the following:
Engine, fuel system, battery, electric connections, chassis, suspension, and bodywork.
2. Polaris Drift Sprint
The drift sprint with a Polaris RZR RS1 is also a part of Yas Marina Circuit’s driving experiences. If the visitors do not wish to bring in their own vehicle for drifting and want to experience drifting for a shorter duration, they can participate in the Polaris Drift Sprint. They will get to experience driving and drifting with the Polaris RZR RS1, which is a lightweight sports car, for 5 runs, which is about 10 minutes of duration. The visitors can also participate in this experience along with their friends or family members and compete with them in drifting. For the Polaris Drift Sprint, Yas Marina Circuit will give the participants access to a custom-made wet drifting course.
3. Experience a Chevrolet Drift Taxi
The Yas Marina Circuit also has drifting experiences for those who love drifting and wish to experience it but do not feel confident enough to drive. In this experience, the visitors will be seated on the passenger seat of the Chevrolet Drift Taxi (which is a modified Chevrolet Camaro SS), while a professional drift instructor will take the wheel. The instructor will then take them around for a thrilling spin on the North Handling Track at YMC, while they can sit and enjoy the experience.
