DC StudiosJames Gunn and Peter Safran have been planning to steer DC Studios in a new course ever since they were appointed as the company’s new heads.

They just unveiled a fresh slate of motion pictures and television programs, which includes a few initiatives.

In 2025, Superman is expected to start flying again, while Themyscira, the island where Wonder Woman is from, is expected to see conflict on a level with that in Game of Thrones.

In a Batman movie, Damian Wayne will also make his eagerly anticipated debut.

Plans

Gunn and Safran have been merging the film, television, animation, and gaming sectors of DC properties since taking over DC Studios three months ago.

They started from scratch, severed connections with earlier projects and creators, and established a writers’ room in order to construct a narrative that would unify the DC Universe.

One of the alleged plans is promoted as the commencement of their end goal.

Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters was the result, and it spurred more projects.

The characters that the DC executives officially unveiled on February 1 were a mix of established heroes and subtle ones.

“One of our strategies is to take our diamond characters – which is Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman – and we use them to prop up other characters that people don’t know,” said Gunn.

“To build those lesser-known properties into the diamond properties of tomorrow,” added Safran.

However, they did also post a warning stating that the proposed Chapter 1 plan may be adjusted.

Development

The latest plan for the new DC universe, which was created by the team of writers that James Gunn liked and included his friends, consists of the following:

  • Drew Goddard (The Martian)
  • Christina Hodson (The Flash)
  • Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight)
  • Christal Henry (Watchmen)
  • Tom King (Batman)

Four DC movies are also scheduled to be released this year before the group’s efforts can be accomplished, including:

  • Shazam! Fury of the Gods (March 17)
  • The Flash (June 16)
  • Blue Beetle (August 18)
  • Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (December 25)

Walter Hamada, the former head, gave his approval to the four movies.

The four major actors could potentially reprise their roles in upcoming DC Studios productions, according to James Gunn.

“There is nothing that prohibits that from happening,” he said.

Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters

The first wave of films that DC Studios will produce are listed below.

Creature Commandos

The seven-episode animated series Creature Commandos is now in development, and James Gunn wrote the script.

Although the voice actors have yet to be chosen, they’ll probably play the live-action counterparts in upcoming movies and television shows.

Waller

As the merciless titular character in the smash Peacemaker spinoff series, Viola Davis will make a comeback to the big screen.

The screenplays for the show will be written by Doom Patrol creator Jeremy Carver and Christal Henry.

Superman: Legacy

The Superman movie, another James Gunn-penned film, will kickstart the updated DC Universe.

“It’s not an origin story,” Safran assured. “It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with hsi human upbringing.”

“He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks that kindness is old-fashioned.

On July 11, 2025, Superman: Legacy will be made available to theaters...Read More
