Liverpool vs Lyon, highlights and analysis of Liverpool's mid-season defeat Liverpool celebrated their return to action with a loss, losing 3-1 to Lyon in the first of two mid-season friendlies. Liverpool was then denied an extra point in the post-match penalty shootout that is a feature of the Dubai Super Cup, with Calvin Ramsey's effort saving the difference. But Jurgen Klopp's side will have a chance to put things right when they face AC Milan in their second and final friendly on Friday.
The Reds now find themselves fifteen points behind leaders Arsenal after a disastrous start to the season, losing to Lyon.
Fabio Carvalho put Liverpool ahead but Mohamed Salah missed a penalty before Alexandre Lacazette equalized. Bradley Barkola scored the goal to put his team ahead before Lacazette sealed the victory in the 83rd minute.

Alexandre Lacazette is the obvious choice, but we'd give it to Bradley Barcola. The 20-year-old was impressive coming on and set the pace for Lyon when he was introduced.
He scored the second goal to give his side the lead, and almost got a brace when he hit the post just minutes later. Definitely one to watch ahead, this boy, Bradley Barkula, remembers the name.
